Ben Wallace wants a max contract this offseason. Do you think he is worth a maximum contract?Keep in mind he is 32 years old and on the decline.
I'd have to say no. He's a great player, but at his age, he's just not worth it. If he indeed asks for a max money contract, the Pistons are better off letting him go.
No, he's not even max worthy of a player. If Pistons do indeed max Ben, you have to question Dumars intentions.
I wouldnt do it either. Ben is getting old and the fatc that he is just defense doesnt make him worth a max. contract.
Old man shouldnt even want a max contract at his age Selfish, earning lots of money on one of the best teams in the league. Max bullsh**...
He's going to be 33 years old next year...hopefully no team is stupid enough to sign him to a big deal but some dumb GM looking for a quick fix will do it...Most overrated player in the league.
Ben is a good player and if I were a GM I would love to have him on my team cuz of his great D but a max contract is too much. He cant do much of anything on offense and is a worse free throw shooter than Shaq. Not to mention he is getting old and is declining. He's definitely not worth the max
As i've been saying, he's the most overrated player in the league. Liabilty on offense and his defense has disappeared.
Yeah I dont think they should. They have'nt really started to get any good young players yet. Thats what they need to start doing. All of there good players are atleast 7 year veterens.
The Pistons would probably not sign him to a max. He has to realize that he is just there to get boards and play good defense. It's not like he is a superstar in the League like Shaq or Amare. Defensive players almost never make good salaries. Plus, with the Pistons starting 5, and Tayshaun asking for a huge contract, or did he get it yet? Anyway, they wouldnt have much room to sign Ben Wallace. Also, teams wouldnt sign him to a max because he is getting pretty old and soon he will be brittle and play like Cliff Robinson.
I agree with everyone that a gm would have to be stupid to give Ben Wallace a max deal, and like BCB said, Dumar's and the pistons are way to smart to do something like that. A liability on offense, and on the decline in defense like Melo said, add to that his age and how much longer he probably has in this league, i think his value is at the mid level and nothing more.
I hate to see him become a money hungry player. He used to just go out and play and now he wants a huge cotract. I wouldn't do it, he's old and depleting. On top of that, if we can't re-sign Chauncey in '07 then definetly not.
No way. Players of his skill dont get max contracts. I mean, Ben is a skilled player in blocking shots and grabbing rebounds. But throw in factors that he doesnt have a great offensive game, he's 32 yrs old, and the Pistons wont have enough cap space to re-sign other important guys, like Billups. He should be signed for a respectable amount, but dont underpay him, either.

Yeah, they couldnt afford to sign him to a max anyways. he wont get it wherever he looks unless some team is that dumb and desperate...which i dont think SHOULD be the case
