Davies returns to the pitch

Charlie Davies made his return to the pitch for Sochaux today in a mini-tournament against Swiss side Neuchâtel Xamax. Davies played a 45 minute mini-match that Sochaux ended up losing on penalties 5-4. The match was a part of a mini-tournament also involving Costa Rica's Saprissa. The entire Sochaux 11 was changed for the 45 minutes against Saprissa, which Sochaux won 4-3 on penalties.

The Sochaux website will be posting photos tomorrow, so I'm hoping to find one of Davies.

As Ives adds, Sochaux have 9 friendlies in July and start their season August 7, giving Davies a month to prove he is back and ready to go, hopefully resuming his hot form that he had in October.

Sochaux's "matches of preparation," as their website calls them when translated to English, include Southampton, Frieburg, and Chilean side FC Bale, as well as French sides AS Nancy-Lorraine, Evian Thonan Gaillard FC, and Strasbourg.

 

Good news to hear considering how bad of an tragedy he has gone through. I hope he can return and comeback better than he was before.

 

I can't get the photos to open, which is kind of a bummer. I was hoping to see Davies in action.

 

Charlie Davies played the second half of Sochaux's friendly with FC Basel of the Swiss Super League. Sochaux lost 5-0 and are still looking for their first goal of the pre-season.

 

And more from today. Charlie Daves served as captain of the reserve side today. He played the full 90 minutes and scored the first goal of his come back according to his twitter posts.

Davies feels 90% ready to play against Bordeaux

I think it will be after the break before he returns, but this is promisng. The article also mentions that the Sochaux coach has suggest that Davies leave on loan in January.

 

Davies will dress for Sochaux tomorrow against Bordeaux.

Davies sat and watched as Sochaux drew level with Bordeaux 1-1. Sochaux got screwed as Bordeaux had a clear handball in the box in stoppage time that went uncalled. No word on Wednesday's match with Monaco.
