"There wasn't much to like about the Blackhawks' 4-1 exhibition loss Tuesday to the Pittsburgh Penguins at the CONSOL Energy Center.

It was a good chance for some of the players vying to make the Hawks to prove themselves against another opponent and in a trying environment. But few impressed coach Joel Quenneville.

''It was tough,'' Quenneville said. ''It was a short list tonight, so I don't want to mention really anybody.''

It was a short list because the Penguins also sat out some of their regulars, including superstar Sidney Crosby. Everyone on the Hawks seemed to struggle.

The line of Jack Skille, Ryan Potulny and Fernando Pisani had some success, but the three didn't have nearly the same type of results they had Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings. They all finished with minus-2 ratings Tuesday after combining for two goals and three assists against the Red Wings.

Some of the Hawks' regulars from last season also struggled, including Brent Seabrook (minus-1), Niklas Hjalmarsson (minus-2) and Brian Campbell (minus-2)."
