Last year before the playoffs Cleveland was favored to win and it seemed the Lakers played with an edge because of that and that was a big reason why they repeated. Now L.A. isn't exactly a major underdog but there are still a lot of people who believe Miami will win it all. A lot believe L.A. will 3 peat. Would you rather be favored or an underdog ?
I think either way it doesn't matter to this team. We have too many guys who just want to win, granted yes our attention slips during regular season, but that's never really mattered. Come playoff time this team is always focused, underdog or not. Plus with last year, the guys who haven't repeated before, learned what its like to repeat (the amount of work to put in and the competition you will face).
It really won't matter. The way I see it, Kobe will find the whole '3 kings' crap a whole new challenge motivating him and the rest of the Lakers for this season.
i think lakers have always been an underdog, considering how many people dont want to see them succeed, and downplay thier talents. especially with kobe and pau, there are a lot of "haters". thats sort of an underdog, right? anyway, i prefer being the underdog. even though the league has seen what the lakers are capable of the last two finals, towards the end of the season, lakers arent truly favoured. this is great motivation for them, especially with boston and miami being favoured over us by some, there is a lot there to fire up a squad.
The Lakers have hardly ever been the underdog bro. Even when the Cavs were the favorites last year, the Lakers were right behind. 2 years ago they were the favorite. 3 years ago after picking up Pau they were the favorites.
I could honestly care less if we're favorites or underdogs. This team will be focused come playoff time regardless of what the odds say, and that's all that matters.
