So the first time I've ever done any kind of fantasy sport was with some buddies at work this year in a fantasy football league and despite some reservations I had going in, it's actually a lot of fun. Would anybody be interested in doing something like this for hoops? Over at ESPN.com they've got a pretty easy to use format and some nice web based software and best of all it's free! If you're interested pm me your e-mail address and I can send you an invite into the "league" I created. Some notes or things I'm considering: - The max number of slots is 20 (this can be adjusted downward if needed). - I'm thinking of doing an auction draft which can really make things interesting - No prizes (unless Denny wants to dip into his hoard of message board revenue) just for fun and bragging rights -- if you're the sort of person that brags about being a giant nerd. - There will be a live online draft sometime before the start of the season - scoring will be head to head - the top 8 teams will have a playoff
im always down for a fantasy league, especially a ripcitytwo one. I play football and basketball every year and am pretty good. I have never done a real auction draft though. So much better I would imagine.
I signed into my ESPN account and I clicked the button that says, "Accept Invitation and Join League" and I get a message that says, We're Sorry: "Invite does not exist in league member". Not sure what this means, but once I'm logged in it says I'm team 2 and that I've been invited. Is this just an ESPN error?
I have no idea, but if it has you listed as a team 2 I'm guessing everything is OK. This is the first time I've ever tried to work one of these things from the admin side.
It's not set in stone, I just had to set one when I created the league. When we get the league filled out, we'll talk about specifics in e-mail.
To be fair, you've been playing against Rice and Barrett and Becks Haarlow. I haven't been impressed with the knowledge dropped by Jay Allen or Antonio, either. Might be humbling to play with people who aren't required by paycheck to say the Blazers can do no wrong, and to those who watch other games.
What do you Barrett and Rice do when all the Blazers have been picked. I can see you and Barrett eyeing in on Patty Mills in the 3rd round.
I'd absolutely join this, except I'm brutal at fantasy sports. I can't stay focused for the entire season and so my team starts to fall apart because I'm not constantly making substitutions and changing personnel. I'm not a good fantasy GM. I may not be a good actual GM, either, but I think I'd prefer to do that. I don't enjoy constant flurries of moves. If fantasy sports didn't put an emphasis on maximizing playing time by substituting players night by night, etc, and you only had to make a few good trades a year, I think I'd enjoy it more. I always enjoy the draft.
You know you can pre-set your rotation for the whole week. Which means you only really have to look at your team once a week.
