<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>May 12, 2006 -- Scottie Pippen has been cut from ABC's NBA postseason roster, a network spokesman confirmed this week. The move by ABC Sports executives continues the biggest game of musical chairs currently going on in the sports television business. Since its inception four years ago, ABC's pregame has included Mike Tirico, Bill Walton, Tom Tolbert and Steve Jones. When this year began, ABC's plan was to have Tirico and Pippen joined by a variety of celebrities for round-table discussions. After the All-Star break this season, ABC completely reshuffled its pregame show - an unusual move for TV - by adding Dan Patrick, Mark Jackson and Michael Wilbon to join Pippen. Tirico moved to NBA play-by-play. Last weekend, Pippen was noticeably absent for a second straight week. Grant Hill was sitting in Pippen's regular chair. Hill showed potential, and ABC could very well try to have him return to its set later in the playoffs. "Grant did a good job as a guest, but, as of now, the plans for the NBA Finals are to feature three core commentators,'' ESPN/ABC Sports VP Josh Krulewitz said. Krulewitz added that Pippen will remain on ESPN's NBA programs. * Deion Sanders' representative, Barry Frank, has had talks with the NFL Network and Fox Sports Net about Sanders' services, according to sources. Sanders left CBS' studio after 2003 because the network offered $1.3 million and Sanders wanted $2 million. Frank had met with ESPN, but a deal there is unlikely. At ESPN, Michael Irvin and Steve Young still are unsigned, but Krulewitz said deals are close. * Unlike ex-Jet GM Terry Bradway, current GM Mike Tannenbaum will not do a show on 1050-ESPN Radio, the station's program director, Mike Thompson, said. The station will have Eli Manning and Tiki Barber as regular paid guests. As for Chad Pennington, Thompson would like to have him back if Pennington wins the starting quarterback job. * Last Sunday's noon Baseball Tonight - now that's an oxymoron - was nearly entirely about Barry Bonds. Lo and behold, Bonds just happened to be on ESPN that night. While Bonds is a big story, Baseball Tonight shouldn't turn into Bonds on Bonds, as ESPN did all Sunday. "We try to make the content interesting as opposed to it just being about the sell,'' said ESPN Senior VP Vince Doria. "We are not there to beat you over the head with, 'Here comes the game tonight.''' But the network's baseball coverage has featured too much Bonds and not enough baseball - especially last Sunday. * SNY is introducing its version of YES' CenterStage. Playing the role of Michael Kay on SNY Spotlight is Steve Berthiaume. The first show is tonight at 7 p.m. Fittingly, for a network that bills itself as the home of the Mets and Jets, Woody Johnson will be the first guest.</div>Source It doesn't say why he was cut though for some reason.
Probably because he sucked ass, and he wasn't that great of a speaker. You have to be able to talk and have a personality. I don't think Pippen had any of that going for him. I mean I hated it when he called players a different name, if your going to analyze, know what your talking about.
I never heard him at any of the games. And like Rok said he wasn't that great of a talker because of him lacking the personality.

Pippen was some what monotone. Didnt show much interest when he was doing his job. I know its hard to go on air infront of millions, but he slured way to many words. He would get players mixed up, just like Rok said. Its understandable he was cut

Pippen's an idiot and he looks like some sort of character from the show ahhh real monsters. He made a bunch of stupid comments, KG is overrated, and he absolutely ripped Steve Nash when he won the MVP title and said the Suns were going to lose in the first round. He was a horrible commentator.
I wouldn't go as far to say that he was a horrible commentator, but his voice did seem kind of boring...

I liked him, he sided with the Pistonson a lot of stuff. Most national T.V. announcers don't really like us and then when we get down like we are right now, they are to quick to pull the plug on us and say that we are going to be upset. But they are always wrong so it doesn't matter.

He had a really boring voice, and he wasnt exciting and fun to listen to as other guys are. He didnt know much about the NBA. He looked like a guest NBA star on there everytime he was doing pre-game.
He looks like a crackhead, and his voice is weird. He wasnt a great analyst at all, just said the obvious.
