So on one hand, it was easy to see the B’s less-than-scintillating performance in their slow-starting 5-1 victory in Belfast on Saturday night as a wonderful tale of an underdog team - the Belfast Giants Selects - rising to the occasion to give a vastly superior team a bit of a scare. But from the Bruins’ point of view, it was not exactly the sort of showing that ought to fill their fans with high hopes for the start of the NHL season.
