Matt Steinmetz wrote a brief article relaying some ideas of what the team's new offense will be like with Keith Smart as head coach, through the mouth of Stephen Curry. http://www.csnbayarea.com/10/01/10/...Years/landing.html?blockID=322890&feedID=3435 This will be an interesting offense. I think it might work well with this team. because as was mentioned 1-4 there is a good group of ball handlers. It may also help Monta and Stephen co-exist a bit better on the offensive side of the ball. By the way Amundson has back problems and is not practicing much. Hope they do not persist. I think a previous note was that Brandan Wright was not practicing because of a calf injury.
I agree this will be an interesting offense compared to Nelson's seven seconds or less, that led the league in team shot attempts with 86.5 apg, because the Warriors have the personnel to do it. If they didn't, then it would be riskier because the Warriors wouldn't be having the same amount of shots they had last season. I checked the Houston Rockets last season. They played a motion offense and they shot 84.4 attempts per game (fourth in the league) without Yao. With Yao, it would be less shot attempts. With Monta Ellis, I'm sure we'll still be up there in the number of shot attempts, so it's not a problem. What could be a problem is when the Warriors do not score enough. I doubt their defense will be of the caliber to stop a lot of teams even though it should improve under Smart compared to Nelson. It does sound like Riley got the players who will play Smart's type of ball, so Nelson's ouster was planned. I think it means more of a set eight or nine-man rotation versus a deeper rotation.
