Hmmm... Who's going to be throwin balls to him once Favre retires? http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl/news/story?id=5653186
Hmmm. It appears the Vikes are all in, so to speak. The NFC is wide open right now, so I don't blame them. Losing Sydney Rice was a huge blow to them. Their WR core is pretty average right now. I've been swinging and missing on all of them in fantasy football. Moss would open things up quite a bit for them. If the Vikes can acquire Moss without giving him a contract extension, then they get him in a contract year, with Favre throwing him the ball. They're ALL IN. Not a bad move. I still don't think they're good enough, even with Moss, to win it all. But they're tough. No doubt. Two of the most dynamic and dominant players at their position reside in Minny? Not bad. I'd take it.
Moss is not exactly a long-term acquisition. He's a free agent in 2011. It doesn't matter who will be the quarterback after Favre. He makes sense as a rental, to give Favre someone to throw to. After this season, they can let Moss go, let Favre fade into another retirement and start over on offense, building around Peterson again.
You use so many less words than I do when saying the exact same thing. I hate smart people. Haha. Either way, I agree. This could be a great move for the Vikes.
Tarvaris Jackson! Honestly I do think Jackson still has some potential. If he can be reliable throwing the ball, his running game with Adrian Peterson will be ridiculous.
Even if people think Moss only has 2-3 good years left, he'll almost always attract double coverage. That could open up things or Harvin and Rice more. Hell, even Peterson.
Shit, I think Moss could play 10 more years. I don't think he's lost a step. I'd like to see him play down in New Orleans.
Really? To me, he seems clearly worse than his prime. I think he could be a solid weapon for another 3-5 years though.
I do. He's had some nagging injuries, but when he's on the field he's still a beast. I saw him dominate Revis a few times when they played a couple games ago. They were trying everything on him, double coverage, bumping him off the line and he was still getting his when called upon. It got to a point that they weren't going to him anymore because he was getting double coverage most the game. The problem with playing for Bilicheck coached team is that he likes to explore all options on offense and doesn't really like to have a premeire receiver. In fact, Wes Welker is probably his favorite target since he's been in N.E. I think it has something to do with why he doesn't want to re-sign in NE
Something to think about (not that it weighs in all too much), but Moss at 33 runs a faster 40 time than Calvin Johnson last year.
To the core of him, Moss is lazy and he really slacks after hitting the 10 yard mark. He doesn't want to re-sign because he expects to have the ball thrown at him without really trying. You're right about Belichick though. His offensive spread never formed a kinship with Moss aside from the year he decided to prove something.
I will miss him as a decoy. Weird timing, but obviously the patriots don't want to deal with his bullshit anymore.
Wordd. He came into the season looking like he didn't want to be there. After watching every game, his body language was off and he kept bitching about touches when he doesn't work his routes or stretched for mulligans. Still, he's probably the best decoy in all of football (even at 34).
People here are freaking out right now about Moss. Everyone is jizzing in their pants. A lot of people didn't like it when he left here, so its a pretty exciting time for everyone around here who cares about the Vikes.
I wonder what will happen to Wes Welker now. Are teams gonna cover him better? Will he stay relevant?
If you watch Pats games, you'll realize he gets open because so much attention is paid upon Moss, I don't think he'll be as good, but he'll still get you 1000+ yards and 6 TDs.
