David Stern is promising Brazilian fans they will soon have the chance to watch NBA players in action in their own country.

The NBA commissioner said during a news conference Wednesday that preseason games will be held in Brazil "likely prior to the 2014 World Cup."

Stern was speaking in Paris ahead of a preseason game between the New York Knicks and the Minnesota Timberwolves. He also said the NBA will soon open an office in Brazil.

That would really be nice for Brazilian fans. After many years of bad management of the local league, basketball is on the rise. NBA had a brief popular run during Jordan years, maybe this will help boost popularity here.
