OT: Wizards might change name back to Bullets

That would be cool, Wizards is a terrible name for an nba team name.

I agree. It was flat out stupid that it was changed in the first place. Does anybody really believe that street violence was reduced by changing the team name? Similar logic would say that the Minnesota Vikings should change their name so that there would be less coast raids in Minnesota....

 

I'm torn. The "Bullets" name made a lot more sense when they were the Baltimore Bullets and you got that nice alliteration. And it remains painful to have a team called the Bullets in the murder capitol of the country. Particularly as the Supreme Court just gutted the anti-handgun law. Hey, maybe this is intended as a protest against that decision! Okay, now I approve. But only if they get the jerseys back where the two Ls of "Bullets" end in hands reaching for a basketball. That was nifty.

 

Calling a team with Arenas on it the Bullets will be epic.

 

The Washington Gold Plated .44 Magnum's! (Or whatever gun it was he pulled, I know it was gold plated.)

 

Wizards is a crap name. Changing it back to Bullets would be great. It's sad Generals is already taken, that would be a good one. Eagles would also be good.

 

How about the Washington Gridlock?

Seems more appropriate.

 

Isn't Senators taken also? I always thought the Washington Presidents would have been an awesome name.

 

With 2 point-guards as their best players in this district of Columbia, maybe the Washington Lobbyists would work...

Baltimore Bullets I like. Washington Bullets, meh. I'd love it if they were the Washington Generals.

Re political names, I vote for the Washington Pork.

 

Wizards is a terrible name for a sports team. I don't think anyone believed that the "Bullets" name created more violence, or lack of such name reduced the violence...it just seems in poor taste, like the sports team is glorifying the violence. And, in any case, I don't think "Bullets" is all that great a basketball team name.

Instead of a plural name, how about a singular name, like the Stanford Cardinal. The Washington Memorial.

 

How bout the Washington Weiners?

 

NY has the Nets, Jets, and Mets. So, obviously Washington should change their name to.....
