TRAIL BLAZERS TO HOLD SCRIMMAGE AT SEATTLE’S GARFIELD HIGH SCHOOL Oct. 14 tune-up to be played at Brandon Roy’s former HS PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Trail Blazers will hold an intra-squad scrimmage at Garfield High School – the alma mater of Trail Blazers all-star guard Brandon Roy – in Seattle, Wash. on Thursday, October 14, the team announced today. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. tip-off. Tickets will be $5 each and go on sale Monday morning, exclusively in-person at the Garfield High School activities center. All proceeds from the game will be donated to the Garfield School Foundation. Together, Roy and the Trail Blazers will match the ticket proceeds with a $10,000 donation to the foundation. Roy attended Garfield from 1998 – 2002. He averaged 22.3 points and 10.4 rebounds for the Bulldogs as a senior, and was a two-time KingCo Conference Most Valuable Player (2001, 2002). “My teammates and I want to thank the Garfield community for inviting us to Seattle,” Roy said. “Garfield High School holds a very special place in my heart. It’s an honor for me and my family to be able to give back to a school that played such a big part in my basketball journey.” This is the second time a Nate McMillan-led Trail Blazers team will hold an intra-squad scrimmage at a high school. In 2008, the team scrimmaged at Cleveland High School in Portland, Ore., raising $10,000 for the Portland Schools Foundation.
