I know a lot of you don't think baseball's "cool". But, I happen to like it and I know a few here that do. Since my Cardinals couldn't pass up the pesky Reds, I've taken a liking to the Giants, mainly because I really like their pitching staff, especially Lincecum. They are just a fun team to watch. In the AL I like Minnesota, small payroll most of the time, yet they always end up in the playoffs. Joe Mauer is probably the best all around catcher I've ever seen. Looks so far like the Rays are going to get swept. The first 3 starters for the Rangers are tough. Pitching is so crucial in the playoffs, I think Phillies are the team to beat.
I guess there's no baseball fans around here. When all is said and done, I don't care who wins, but fuck the Yankees!
My cubbies evaporated a couple months into the season .... and the mariners suck so i was forced to follow my third favorite team, the rays (have a good friend from wsu that works in the front office). I think they get game 3 but their punch and judy hitting is going to do them in again. in the nl i am rooting for the phils, i know they are the favorites but they are so much fun to watch. i think they play a fun brand of baseball, with a good mix of bashers, speed and scrap on the offensive side. i do agree though... no yankees, though it looks like the sweep over the twinkees is in store.
I grew up loving the Yankess! Don Mattingly was my favorite player as a kid, so at least you know I didnt jump on the bandwagon when they were good
But I said baseball isn't cool as a joke cause you said that in the OP. I'll leave this thread alone now so you can get your discussion going.
Tampa Bay - Philly - SF - Texas - Minny - ATL - NY In order of teams I want to win. TB looks done for. So does Minny.
There's nothing like being at a baseball game throwin back beers, eating garlic fries, checking out fine ass girls in shorts skirts, catching foul balls. Nothing better. Thats why I wish Portland had a team. I'd seriously consider season tickets
I'd just like to say that the few baseball games I've been too I have actually enjoyed. I just can't get into it on TV, even in the playoffs. The atmosphere at the games seemed great though.
I watched that. Phillies are going to be tough to beat, they don't really have any holes on that team.
They're fun to watch. I don't have a problem with the Phillies being dominant because that city hasn't and won't be getting a Superbowl ring or an NBA Championship anytime soon.
I've been a casual Braves fan since high school (mostly because I hated the Marines and the Braves were so readily available on TBS). I loved watching them back when they had Maddox, Glavine, etc. It's sad that Cox is retiring. I think I stopped following the Braves about the same time I got burned out on sports in general. The Blazers are the only team that has really kept my attention through it all. I would love to see them make a playoff run in Cox's last season.
