http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogs/jazznotes/50433139-62/miller-blazers-camby-full.html.csp Another solid report by Brian T. Smith, who seems like a better writer about the Blazers in another city, following another team than anything we have here.
Why pick it up until they absolutely have to do it? I'd at least wait until the trade deadline in case Cho wants to trade 'Dre as an expiring contract. Extending 'Dre now lessens his value in a potential deadline deal.
I hear what you're saying.... I don't necessarily disagree. I just don't know if I see us trading Miller unless it's for another point guard. Hell, if CP3 is available again I'm all for it
July 1st is the date for contract expirations. I may be wrong, but I don't think the CBA allows the dates to be moved. 10/31 for an extension on an existing contract, and 6/30 to exercise an option.
Well, you know why Miller wants his option picked up. I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell of him making that much this summer. If he continues playing after Portland, it will be for probably half or less of what he's making now, especially with the new CBA that will eventually be completed.
Yeah, I was going to post that as well. I really don't see a reason to extend Miller's contract right now, and if I'm Cho, I wait until the trade deadline at the very earliest. I really don't see a reason to extend him before the draft, if that is at all possible.
Well, and there's always a chance that things won't work with him this season, or Bayless will step up. Just can't predict what will happen this season (as much as I would love to be able to).
It will be interesting to see what affect the looming lockout has on the team's decision to pick this option up. If he's not traded before the deadline then I think there's a pretty good chance they do pick that option up, unless Jerryd makes such huge strides at the position that they feel they can make do with him as the starter (or on a longshot Johnson impresses).
