"It didn't take Green Bay linebacker Desmond Bishop long tohis playing résumé four games into this season after another good training camp. "I want to say we've had four games . . . and I've played probably about four snaps," said Bishop. "Maybe." Four snaps. One tackle. For the few plays when he did get on the field last week against Detroit, Bishop was "like a kid in a candy shop." It's been a long wait. There is no one on the Green Bay roster more eager to get on the field. The circumstances aren't ideal, of course. The Packers are without starting inside linebacker Nick Barnett and Brandon Chillar for at least a week with wrist and shoulder injuries. In Bishop, 26, the Packers have an experienced and eager fourth-year player who was so tired of waiting and so frustrated as a backup again in training camp he was open to the idea of being traded. But that never happened and he never made a big deal about it. And he's not looking back now. "That was my mind-set; it was in the back of my mind," Bishop said Friday after the Packers completed practice. "But at the end of the day I was a Packer. We take the field, I'm a Packer and going against whoever the enemy is. "I've been waiting for this for three years and a couple of games. I'm definitely eager. I love to play. I am really eager to play. I do have something to prove. I have a lot to prove to myself and most importantly to my teammates to be reliable and to go out there and have an impact." Bishop likely will line up next to A.J. Hawk on the inside. It will be a tough assignment. The Redskins have a threat downfield in tight ends Chris Cooley and Fred Davis. "Cooley's one of the better tight ends in the league because he's an excellent blocker and a very good receiver," Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers said. "They do a great job with their play-action passing game, because it comes off their running game. Their tight ends are a big part of their offense." That means Bishop, as well as the other linebackers, need to be prepared." Read more: http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/104615469.html
