"The Lions have been close. In fact, three of their four losses have come by less than a touchdown. When a team is that close, the difference usually can be traced to one play here or there. And, following the lead the Patriots took last Monday against the Dolphins, special teams may be the area that lifts the Lions past the Rams on Sunday. "You look at opportunities in the return game that were one block or one player away from taking something that was a 20-yard return and going the distance with," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. "We have the potential, but we need to do a better job there to get over the hump." Stefan Logan knows how close the Lions have come to breaking a return, and knows getting one Sunday could be the difference. "We're always one tackle or one block away from breaking it and (the Rams) understand the threat we have," he said. "Coach always lets us know that special teams are a big part of the help as far as making big plays. … We have to make sure on kickoff returns that we make our reads and follow our blocks, and it should work out for us."
