The Trail Blazers plan to sign center Steven Hill to a training camp contract in an effort to fortify their injury-depleted frontcourt, according to a source close to the situation.

The 7-foot Hill, who played on the Blazers’ summer league team in 2008 and briefly with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2008-09 season, was traveling to Portland Sunday afternoon and the parties were optimistic that Hill would be available to play Monday night, when the Blazers host the Utah Jazz in a preseason game.

Oh yeah... he's a way better option than Dampier :/

As I suspected, Cho isn't going to (nor should he, IMO) sign someone for more than three weeks at this point. Reevaluate at the end of camp. If Joel and Greg are both a long ways out from playing, then you cut somebody. If not? No need to panic. Pendergraph's injury will give an injury waiver to the roster. Wait and see what is available.

I'm guessing that Dampier wouldn't take a non-guaranteed contract, if he was offered it.

Agree w/this. Sign Hill to a non-guaranteed TC contract, in case something happens to Camby or Joel or Greg doesn't progress like they are. If it comes down to it, you end up with a healthy 7foot foul machine. If not, he can be cut. He's familiar to Nate and hungry...ideal choice.

But what if Dampier is gone by the time TC is over and we don't have a healthy backup for Camby.

I'm not sure we need Dampier even for a few weeks of regular season action. There must be a reason he's still available. There are a lot teams with worse front-court issues than the Blazers, yet nobody has picked him up. Red flag to me at this point from an outsider's perspective.

So would the team that will end up paying Dampier more than we've got.

Brian and BGRANTFAN hit it on the dot. No reason to have the "sky is falling" tell we know more about when our centers will be back and semi healthy.

I guess Hill valued his knees less than a training camp invite. Best of luck to him.

honest question, are you sure about this? I thought we had to have 4 injured players all expected to be out for at least 2 weeks. But I am not sure about how this stuff works.

I'm not sure about it. I was speculating, but IF Oden and/or Przy can come back soon, there is no need at this point to take on another guaranteed contract.

Actually, we'll all die, outside of those who make it to the Denver Airport. Anybody else seen the fucked up murals in that place? I saw the two with all of the children dying and then living right by the baggage area, stopped and took a photo, and was amazed at all of the people who just strolled right by it without even a glance.

It's not like these are hidden. They are in a high-traffic area, yet no one sees them.

It's the altitude. This explains why Birdman got that weird tat. Someone get those people some oxygen.

Great segueway to Jesse Ventura's Conspiracy Theory!!

In January, one episode of his show was about the Denver Airport, including the paintings and the underground doomsday complex. The whole show was later on YouTube, and I posted that link on this board.

The current news is, the second season of this great program returns Friday, Oct. 15. It's on the TruTV network (formerly Court TV).
