"It would be a mistake to put too much stock in how the Orlando Magic offense tore through the New Orleans Hornets on Sunday night. The Hornets had played the previous evening, and, most important of all, Sunday's matchup was an exhibition.

But the Magic should be encouraged by the play of Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis.

Carter scored 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting. He also penetrated into the lane more often than he had in Orlando's two previous preseason games.

"I know what my role is, and that's to be in attack mode," Carter said.

Coach Stan Van Gundy wanted Lewis to take more shots Sunday, and Lewis responded, scoring 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting."
