    Why was this guy played? We have enough players at 6-9 and hes a power forward.

    He's a training camp invitee that will be cut by the last preseason game of the year. Same with Tarver, Mills and Hill. All goners.

    Players accept the invitation in big part because they will get at least a few minutes to try and impress other teams around the league.

    i don't know how this concept will work since, Pendy and Mills didnt get much playing time last year and they were signed.

    You didn't read any Juwan Howard posts, did you. In the top 15 players we have only 2 subs over 6-6, and they are not center-sized (Cunningham and Babbitt). The average NBA player is 6-7.

    It is common courtesy to give the guys who were practice players some minutes so they may try to get on with another team. They provide bodies during training camp. You return the favor by giving them a few minutes in a pre season game so some scout might see them and give them a chance to make a roster.
