WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel (42-2-2, 33 KOs) injured his right leg in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, and his fight with Nonito Donaire is now in doubt. The leg injury consists of mostly cuts and scrapes. \ However, Montiel was supposed to be fighting next month in a tune-up for his big bout with Donaire in February. Without the tune-up bout, you would have to assume that the Donaire-Montiel fight will need to get put back further in 2011. Montiel was lucky that he didn’t sustain worse injuries in his accident, because he could have broken his leg or worse.
