I spin the ball on the floor and let it come back to me, dribble twice, concentrate on the basket, and then release. I only make half of them of course [IMG]

I pull up my shorts to above my knees, dribble once, bounce up and down four times, then shoot.

Anyway, I dribble twice, spin the ball, dribble once, bounce twice, and shoot it. I'm a 90% free throw shooter. :happy0144:

I bounce it with backspin so it comes back to me, then I do the rest like Richard Hamilton. Where I dribble it twice in the center, then I dribble it once on my shooting hand side (right). Finally, I bend my legs and get really low and on the way up, release and see it hit the bottom of the net.

Working on your form can help but you mainly just have to practice. I shoot 25 free throws almost on a daily basis and I can consistently make about 8/10

Have a clear mind when shooting FT's. Don't try to think about the pressure or what will happen if the shot goes wrong, etc. And of course, practise makes perfect [IMG]

Oh yeah I forgot. Some good advice my coach gave me was every time before you shoot the ft imagine the ball swishing through the net before you shoot. It really does work. it helps you clear your mind and concentrate on the shot

I am a pretty good free throw shooter myself. I will give you some simplified advice:

    1. Make sure your "shooting foot" is in front a little bit. Shooting foot: say you are right handed, have your right foot CENTERED and in front of your left foot a little bit.
    2. Make sure your legs are shoulder's width apart.
    3. Do your routine, and do it consistantly, the same routine every single free throw you shoot.
    4. Line the tip of your fingers on the ridge of the ball, and spread your fingers for rotation.
    5. Make sure everything is squared up and straight.
    6. Take your time.
    7. Focus on the front of the rim throughout the entire shot.
    8. Snap your wrist like a jumpshot, get rotation.
    9. Swish! lol

Extra advice: If you make your 1st free throw, never stay there. Always take a few steps back and repeat all the steps and re-posture yourself.

If you do different things, they arent routines.
