An unexpected duo emerged to propel the Pistons to victory Monday night. Rookie Greg Monroe and Jason Maxiell played well together in the fourth quarter, helping the Pistons to a 94-85 victory over the Atlanta Hawks at The Palace. Rodney Stuckey led the Pistons with 16 points and four assists. Detroit native Jordan Crawford led the Hawks with 20 points. Pistons coach John Kuester made changes to the lineup, highlighted by Ben Gordon and Austin Daye entering the starting lineup, and Richard Hamilton coming off the bench. Maxiell made his first four shots, and Monroe (15 points, seven rebounds, four assists) played his best game after a couple of shaky outings. Monroe’s pass to a cutting Will Bynum gave the Pistons a 16-point lead, and the rest of the game the were on cruise control.
