" In an ongoing effort to upgrade the worst offense in the league, the Carolina Panthers claimed wide receiver Devin Thomas off waivers from the Washington Redskins Monday. The 6-foot-2, 218-pound Thomas played collegiately at Michigan State and was selected in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft by the Redskins, but fell out of favor with the team. He caught 40 passes for 446 yards and three touchdowns in two seasons with the Redskins. Five weeks into the NFL season, the Panthers rank last in NFL in points per game, total yards, yards per play, passing net yards per play, turnovers and first downs per game. Thomas is the second receiver the Panthers have claimed in the last week. They previously claimed David Clowney off waivers from the New York Jets. The Panthers now have six wide receivers on the roster. To make room on the roster for Thomas, offensive lineman Tim Duckworth was waived." http://www.carolinagrowl.com/index....-claim-wr-thomas-off-waivers&catid=1:articles
