Food for thought, even if you disagree with his observations and conclusions (jury is still out for me having not seen any of the games)

Anybody here who's actually watched the team live in pre-season have anything they can add?

I watched the Clipper game live and while I agree with someone of the assessments, I can't say I agree with all of them.

I don't think any players has drastically changed his game to a point where we'll be surprised with how much better they got. Batum and LMA were probably the most hyped this off-season, and while Batum might be a little better, I think his increase in minutes will be the reason you see an increase in his numbers, not a newly found post-up game.

The Clipper game, we played solid defense against a horrible team, and it led to a lot of easy baskets. Obviously, this hasn't been the case recently, and our offense has struggled because of it. Another factor in our offense being horrible seems to be that Roy is taking a backseat right now. Under Nate, it seems we have the most success on offense when Roy's usage rate is as high as possible. I'm guessing we'll see this increase during the regular season.

I think Wesley Matthews is better than many of us thought he would be, and so is Rudy for that matter.

This season comes down to GO's health. That's probably not a good thing, but I think it's a reality.

Pretty well written article. I only watched us vs the clippers and our offense was clicking their so when he talks about the offense being stagnant and falling apart when those three don't play well I can't comment. It does sound like in the other games that Bayless and Mathews don't really need permission to try and take over offensively but in everything I saw and what i'v heard it has been the second unit that has come out and played aggressively and played well. The Starting unit has seemed to only have Aldridge playing well offensively.
If I were to be worried (which I, without watching more games live, won't be) it would be because the starters haven't seemed to click that well even though they were the starters for a good portion of last season.

Neither Boston nor LA have good low post games and they seem to make out OK. We can win without a low post player if we're smart. Players getting the ball when and where they need it... That's a matter of good coaching and smart players.

I wonder how bad these games would get without Wesley Matthews? He's the one bright spot this preseason amidst a lot of mediocre offense and sloppy defense.

For me the Andre Miller experiment is over. We've seen his act in the playoffs and it's nothing the team can count on. He's only half the chemistry problem in the backcourt, but Brandon isn't going anywhere so his expiring contract is an obvious asset to move.

Since Cho took the job we've been waiting for a big trade. I like the Devin Harris talk, but that was too good to be true. Still waiting...

Here we are in the pre season and people have nailed the Trailblazer coffin shut and planted them 6' under. Seems a little premature to me. We have plenty enough talent to see us thru for Oden/Godzilla return. Trust me, the sky has not fallen down.

I think at this point, the people "nailing the Trailblazer coffin shut" are thining that this team will make the playoffs. I get the impression that most that are concerned, are concerned with the playoffs. Our offense is not a good fit for the playoffs.

Speaking of Blazersedge, it seems Quick is going after Ben: http://twitter.com/jwquick

If I remember correctly, Blazer's Edge went after Quick when he was ripping on Rudy, so we may have a little feud here.

I have a feeling if Matthews wasn't scoring like he has been, Brandon wold have picked it up a bit.

It's Pre-Season... no reason to panic.
I'm not a fan of Dave from BlazersEdge. His basketball IQ seems to be about as high as Travis Outlaw.

I think Brandon is behaving a bit like when Miller showed up. He was kind of in a funk for awhile. He will snap out of it.

BlazersEdge pissed a lot of people off after this Ben guy released the picture of Rebecca out with her friends a couple summers ago. He would also write up stuff on her and she didn't like it. I've heard Quick and Freeman don't like this guy either.

There are definitely reasons for concern, but not too much concern. If I remember correctly, the Bulls were something like 2-4 in their preseason the year they went 72-9. They didn't have a good "low post threat". You could say all of the same things Dave is saying about that Bulls team, too, but it would obviously be alarmist and wrong. I'm ready to wait until the Blazers have 10 regular season games under their belt before I worry too much.

Another example of "some internet guy has the same opinion as I hold, so this means I'm right". Not with the OP, but you catch the drift.

What insider knowledge does Dave at BE have, other than his own opinions, and a forum in which to express those opinions?

How soon people forget that Brandon played arguably the best ball of his career last year when Andre was finally starting, he was a two, and hadn't gotten hurt yet.

Since this garbage got shot down in another thread, you figured you would see if it stuck in this thread?

Andre Miller isn't going to win a playoff series by himself, but he was clearly not the reason the Blazers lost the series, considering the Suns had to put their best defender on him and change their defensive scheme to slow him down.

    Let it go.
