I'm not sure defense is a major point of emphasis with Roy. If it were, he'd probably play some defense himself.
Would you guys trade Roy for Paul straight up? And this rumor sounds stupid. Portland giving nothing up to get a top 5 player in the NBA. Portland (again) wins this lopsided deal. And just Favors to Denver? Denver could get much more than a non-proven Josh Smith/Amare Stoudamire-lite.
Yes, with Wes onboard we are built to run IMO, Rudy would love playing with Paul and Batum and LMA would we incredible on the break. I would do it.
Yes, without question. I'd love to see them play together, but I'd prefer Paul if it's one or the other.
Read it again. It said Miller and a bunch of (unnamed) Blazers going out with just Paul coming back, so who knows what kind of talent "we" give up.
Only if Paul agreed to an extention. Even then the homer part of me is torn. Blazers wanted to clean up their image and have players the community could get behind. Roy practically defines the kind of Ptd player you want on and off the court . . . but we are talking CP and can't pass on him if it is long term.
I think it was one of the New York or NJ beat writers that had more details on the trade. I would guess if we're getting CP3, we're losing Miller, Batum and likely Joel's contract. With New Orleans losing CP3 and having already traded Collison, I wouldn't be surprised if the "boatload" was because we also had Bayless in there so New Orleans could have Devin Harris and Bayless at PG. Denver would likely have needed Batum and Favors to part with Melo. Blazers and NJ are fine getting Melo and CP3, so that's probably about how it would have gone down to have all sides happy and us to lose a "boatload" as stated in that NJ paper.
I assume this is the source article for the report linked in the OP: http://www.northjersey.com/sports/p...Iannazzone__Derrick_doing_Nets_no_Favors.html
