Long story short, one of my roommates is a Blazers fan, and he told me Aldridge is 'so underrated, i'd take him over your precious Al Horford anyday'. It actually seems like a fair comparison, but i'd take Horford over Aldridge any day. 1. Would the Blazers pull the trigger, if it were ever presented (Horford for Aldridge + filler assuming Horford gets the near max)? 2. Would YOU like to see Horford rather than Aldridge?
It's up to Greg's health just like everything else. LA's game is tailor made to fit with Greg! His outside game and lack of rebounding compliments Greg's low post skills and rebounding. I'll stick with LA regardless. Nobody double teams Horford in the post.
I would trade Aldridge for Horford regardless of Oden's status. Horford's a little better overall defensively, and a much better rebounder. Offensively he doesn't get as many looks as Aldridge but he's much more efficient, they shoot similar percentages on jumpers but Horford works himself inside for higher percentage looks more. All that plus a yr younger and more playoff experience too.
Pretty much what I think except if Oden isn't healthy I might trade LA for Hordford. I'd have to debate on it and see if LA actually is going to the post more often this season, but if he isn't i'd take Horford. I'll take Black Griffen over both of them though.
For our team we need a second option behind Brandon and whether you like it or not, LA score 18 a night. I don't care HOW he does it, he DOES! Horford has NO low post game to speak of whatsoever and does not demand a double team. No thanks.
LaMarcus is worthless when he gets double teamed. He's horrible at passing out of it and he folds if he tries to put the ball on the floor. The only reason he gets double teams is because teams know this and take advantage. Horfords a better rebounder and defender. Give me his contract and 15 and 10 anyday over LMA's contract and 18 and 7 anyday. LMA makes nearly double what Horford does. God, I hope Aldridge proves me wrong this year, I really really do. But I'm not holding my breath.
thats certainly the size player he projects best at defending, but where in the sets is he most effective on offense? Can he hit the top of the key jumper like a high post player or is he only effective down low where Greg (if healthy) will be? I'm pretty sure that not wanting too many cooks in the low post kitchen is what the posters you responded to were getting at. I think AH would be a decent offensive frontcourt fit beside LA or Camby... Greg or Joel, not so much STOMP
One of Horfords best assets is his 12-15 foot jumper. He shot 55% from the field last year while Aldridge shot 49%. Did I mention he makes half what LMA makes?
Yeah, Horford is great at hitting the shot in the high post. I actual thing he'd be great with Oden. He's a far superior rebounder (and defender) to Aldridge, and I personally think they don'tr run enough plays for him in hotlanta. To be fair though, this is also under the assumption that he gets around 14-15 mil a season next year to around near the max.
Aldridge may be underrated but Horford more so. Wouldn't trade for him but only because I'm a huge LMA supporter.
