This was pretty much expected to happen, right?

Escondido is to San Diego, what Beaverton is to Portland. Seems to be a common trend these days to keep your AAA team close to the big league squad.

How much attendance could they draw that close to the Padres though?

A lot. San Diego has a lot of big suburbs to draw from. People who can't afford tickets to the big show will settle for taking family to watch the team in Escondido. SD never seems to have problems filling stadiums.

Its dumb that the land owner in Beaverton just didn't sell his land for this potential. AAA in beaverton would have been nice, and a future MLB team in Portland. Oh well.

I've given up hope on that dream. I don't think we'll see an MLB or NFL team in Portland in our lifetime.

Not if we keep voting in the kind of leadership we do. Potter and Adams? I mean c'mon. Those guys don't know a damn thing about sports, or what it could bring to the city. At least Vera Katz would give it a listen.

Wasn't it old bitter Potter who said he hated sports?
