    Utilizing their ties to gain a broader audience of fans across the NW. Look at how many people in the Portland/Vancouver area who follow the Mariners and Seahawks. I won't be surprised at all to start seeing the obnoxious group of Blazer fans start declaring we are moving to Seattle.

    Keep in mind this trip north is done at the expense of Central Oregon fans who saw the traditional preseason scrimmage down here cancelled last year and this year specificallly to court Seattle fans. Last year's attempt to play there brought protests and was re-scheduled in Portland.

    Through the comcast fiasco and a deliberate snub by Blazers management in recent years, The Blazers have completely alienated rural Oregon fans.

    It won't be long now...

    the protest was b/c the NBA wanted to charge admission and have it be a regular preseason game. Most seattle fans don't want a penny to go to Stern for whatever reason. This was a pretty packed (small) house for a scrimmage...a couple of guys were touting this as more of a "neighborhood" feel to a game than a "NBA's back in Seattle!" feel. And I agree.

    I live and work here, and called in 3 times this week to the various radio shows to get Mike Salk (who didn't even live here then), Steve Sandmeier and Gastineau to realize that it's not a bad thing that Brandon Roy's doing a charity scrimmage in Seattle. It's not like they're trying to move in on Sonics' turf. Everyone interviewed said something like "we cherished our rivalry with the Sonics and wish they were still here".

    The least classy people about this fiasco are the media types trying to stir up trouble. Out of a misplaced hate for Stern and Bennett and the Seattle Council.

    Maybe, I don't remember. I always thought of Redmond as a little place you didn't stop at on the way to Prineville (which you only stopped at if it was the only place you could get a motel before going to climb Smiths rock).

    I like it too, but not for basketball reasons. Central Oregon is a fine place to go hiking, for me, basketball is an urban sport - the kind of thing you do and go out to a bar later, hook up with friends and the like.

    I repeat what I said - if the options were going to see the Blazers in Seattle or Redmond/Prineville, I would rather go to Seattle. If the issue is to enjoy nature - I would rather be in Central Oregon.

    Anyway, this was also meant as a joke based on the premise of the thread "... and so it begins..." - where the suggestion was that this was step one of the Blazers moving to Seattle, vs. the Blazers moving to central Oregon.

    Nothing to serious, honest. I do not care one bit about pre-season games anyway...

    Yep maybe you don't remember, why am I not surprised. Great area, tons of fun outdoors things to do, great restaurants and brew pubs in Bend. But you'd probably sit at your computer on your azz 24/7, open your mind a little and get out.

    Yeah, Bend is a very nice place. But I like Seattle better as a city. I think I got a pretty good clue what I like and what not - but thanks for the note, I will file it under "things other people believe they know about what I like".
