7:00PM ET start. @ After a gritty 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday night which now has the Maple Leafs on a 3-0-0 start to begin the season (first time since 1999), Toronto visits New York tonight to face the Rangers in what will be their first original 6 match-up. The Leafs have a chance to go 4-0-0 for the first time since 1993 when they set an NHL record 10-0-0 run to begin the year. J.S. Giguere is expected to start tonight after Jonas Gustavsson held the Penguins off with 22 saves in Toronto's win. The top line of Kris Versteeg, Tyler Bozak, and Phil Kessel failed to register a point an only had 1 shot on goal, but Toronto displayed the depth that many thought they did not have. Colton Orr, who got knocked off his feet in a fight with Deryk Engelland, is questionable for the game. John Mitchell will be his replacement if he cannot dress. Forward Chris Drury a Defenceman Matt Gilroy will make their season debut for the Rangers. Erik Christensen is expected to miss the tilt with a sore groin. Maple Leafs' Projected Line-up: Forwards: Versteeg-Bozak-Kessel Kulemin-Grabovski-MacArthur Sjostrom-Brent-Armstrong Orr-Zigomanis-Brown Defence: Phaneuf-Beauchemin Kaberle-Schenn Gunnarson-Komisarek Goaltenders: Giguere Gustavsson Rangers' Projected Line-up: Forwards: Frolov-Drury-Gaborik Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan Avery-Stepan-Fedotenko Boogaard-Boyle-Prust Defence: Staal-Rozsival Del Zotto-Girardi Gilroy-Eminger Goaltenders: Lundqvist Biron
The 1st ends 1-0. Lundqvist has been superb. The Leafs have to find a way to finish. He's been beaten a few times, but the puck hasn't gone in.
3-1 Toronto with 7:40 left to go in the 2nd. What a turn of events! They're just buzzing out there. MacArthur again, Komisarek with a goal, and Kessel off of a beautiful pass from Bozak. Toronto looks good, and Lundqvist is getting angry at his team. Hopefully Toronto can keep it up.
End of the 2nd. The boo-birds have come out at MSG. Leafs are getting a little sloppy. Hope they keep it clean in the 3rd. Rangers will definitely be coming out hard. Shots 30-12 in favour of Toronto by the way.
Woo!!! http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=337517 I'm glad the players aren't letting it get to their heads. That's the fan's job. A shame about Gaborik though. I wish he could stay healthy because he's quite the talent. Fortunately (and unfortunately), I didn't chose him in any hockey pool. He's much too injury-prone for that. Video: Kessel is going to get 40 goals. And finally, Sean Avery is a disgrace to Hockey. That was disgusting and gutless how he chopped at Komisarek with his back turned, and then whacked him again after backing up and knowing he was going to get beaten to a pulp. Loved how Armstrong gave him a taste of his own medicine by not dropping the gloves with him. That was AWESOME!!! Talk about getting beaten at your own game. Hilarious! And Avery got the penalty.
