Why is it hypocrisy for NOW to advocate for the candidate they think will help women more?

    I see no hypocrisy.

Does a right wing veterans group advocate for a candidate who's a veteran but who they think won't push the legislation for veterans?

Doe the NRA advocate for a candidate who practices at the gun range but will push legislation that they think won't help them?

Those 2 examples happen all the time. Many Democratic candidates pipe up that they own guns, but can't get NRA backing. Many liberal politicians spent time in the military, but are opposed by veterans lobbies. So I didn't just make up the 2 examples.

You conservatives who are suddenly worried about hypocrisy, will you be criticizing veterans groups and the NRA this election because of the same supposed inconsistency?

(This is the first time I've ever argued for NOW, which stinks. But conservatives smell even worse, so I'll hold my nose and help NOW.)

crandc runs away when confronted by a quote from the Huffington Post.

Either that, or she is saying "neener neener neener" with her ears plugged and eyes shut in the corner of willful ignorance.

How does Jerry Brown and his circle of male cronies help women more than Meg Whitman, a self-made woman who started her own successful business and now wants to help other women (and men) follow their dreams?

I think you've confused Meg Whitman for Mother Teresa. What she now wants is to be governor.

Further, she didn't start eBay or any other business.

She didn't start it, but she made it wildly successful as CEO. What successful business has Jerry Brown been involved with in his long career in government?

That's true, and if you had said that I would not have objected to it.

What successful government programs has Meg Whitman been involved with in her long career in the corporate world?

Now, what's the job they are running for? Corporate executive? Or government executive?

You have zero issue with term "political whore" being approved by the CA head of the NOW. Got it.

It may have been the original topic of the thread, but the thread wandered. In any case, posting in this thread doesn't give you the right to assign me an opinion on the original topic.

Do you somehow believe that the skills to create an effective organization and control expenses doesn't cross over to government? Because if that's your position, then we'll agree to disagree.

California doesn't have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem. Meg Whitman is a Bain-trained organizational expert, who has a long track record with FTD, Hasbro, Disney and E-Bay. Do you really believe Jerry Brown is better qualified to reorganize and streamline California's government?

Some of the skills do cross over, of course. Some don't. Government is actually different in some ways, and requires a different skill set.

Yes. Jerry Brown has a long track record with the state of California, and the state of California is actually pretty similar to the state of California. Whereas Hasbro really isn't all that much like the state of California.

You're assuming a consistency of environment. I can tell you that we have a list of executives that we hire for our different businesses. Some are really good at achieving growth, some are really good at cutting costs, some are strong on operations, etc. We hire different people for different goals all the time.

If you think Jerry Brown is better equipped to take on the public unions, the size of government and controlling costs than Meg Whitman, then we're just going to have to agree to disagree. We've seen Jerry as Governor before; color me unimpressed, and those were better economic times. You're entitled to think differently, although if you do you're entering into Einstein's definition of insanity.

The state of california when Brown was gov. is not pretty similar to the state of california.

Makes sense. Do you ever hire executives who have spent their entire career in government and have never had a private sector job?

Ok, we will agree to disagree.

He seems more equipped to deal with crime as governor, but atty. general has little to do with the state's biggest issues, which are fiscal.

It's never a question of who is most qualified out of the entire population. It's a question of who is most qualified of the two people running.
