I'm watching "Before They Were Blazers" on Comcast, featuring Greg Oden when he was at Ohio State. Right now they are showing the 2007 NCAA Finals OSU vs Florida and Greg is pretty much beasting it. A few plays ago he got tangled up with Horford going up for a board and came down kind of awkwardly. My first thought was "Oh no, he's hurt". (In a game that happened 3-1/2 years ago!!) It's not just in Greg's head - it's in all of our heads.
I was watching that as well. I had a different thought. My thought was this: "I have to watch a replay of Greg in college in order to watch Greg at all." So, based on your thread title, I'd say without question - SAD.
So what? I'v been injured every year since 7th grade. Twisting an ankle that doesn't put you out for any significant time is considered an injury.
So he can no longer live up to his potential because he wont be injured or because his injuries have somehow slowed him even though neither of the big ones are pretty much gonna heal just fine. Only thing that has me worried is if his tendinitis becomes Chronic or not.
Yeah, I don't get mourning for a lost future. Being upset that we haven't seen a healthy, studly Oden the past three years? Sure. Being upset that we will NEVER see a healthy, studly Oden? I'm not buying that. Ed O.
