After having done this so many years it seems as though its an institution but with the near total lack of participation in the pre-season, I'm wondering if it is time to call the game quits?

Is it just that it is pre-season that nobody cares? Will it make a difference once the season starts?

Is it that we no longer have a sponsor and thus you are only playing for bragging rights, and not for an actual prize?

Just curious as to people's thoughts out there.

    Gramps...

It's just pre-season. If Roy doesn't care about the pre-season, why should we?

None of the games have been on TV, so I haven't really paid much attention.

I'm like a bear coming out of hibernation, just barely waking up for the season...I think the prediction game should live on.

I am not very good at the prediction game, so I never play. :dunno:

I'm aiming to leave after about 3000 posts, so I'm not in it this year, Gramps. Thanks for all the work. As the guy who kept your game going on ESPN for most of 2 seasons (it got destroyed by the evil moderator about 3 times), I appreciate your dedication. I think once the games are on TV, everyone will be back.

You know me Gramps, I never miss a prediction. It's just the pre-season. Also, as stated earlier they are not on tv. Keep the game going, it's so much fun!

Trying to go cold turkey on my posting addiction. I'll still be reading your posts, so don't relax, Bishop. I'm looking over your shoulder all hours of the day and night. Feel my presence and be afraid, very afraid.

I guess I'll just have to settle on PM debates then, eh?

I need to get my mind onto productive pursuits. For example, after that last post, I started a game of Spider Solitaire. I interrupted it halfway to see whether you answered. By the way, I'm winning. Two suits, too, the intermediate kind. A cure for cancer is next.

With no way to watch the pre-season games I haven't even kept track of who won or lost, (radio just doesn't do it for me) but I certainly planned on playing the prediction game faithfully as always once the real season starts.

I appreciate everyone's responses. Will continue and look forward to greater participation once the season starts.

I'm in agreement with the others. With this being pre-season and no TV, there just isn't any value in following it. The stats are all over the place so any pre-season team could score anywhere from 70 to 120 pts on a given night. So it's nearly impossible to put in a prediction other than a coin flip anyway.

So I'm in and will begin submitting picks come game 1 (or at least game 1 that counts).

Yep. Roy's nonchalance/apathy toward the preseason has even rubbed off on the most zealous and passionate of Blazer fans.

    :sigh:

Isn't that a bit like an alcoholic hanging out at the end of the bar, watching his friends and acquaintances have fun while trying to fight an urge?
