Vermont. Belfast. Prague. Jersey. D.C. That's more than enough road-trip bonding. Sure, it was a success, but it's high time the Boston Bruins played a game at home.

The Bruins beat the Washington Capitals 3-1 on Tuesday night, running their winning streak to three games as they prepare for their home opener on Thursday -- also against the Capitals.

"It's going to be good to be home," Boston coach Claude Julien said. "We've had our fair share of road games."

The Bruins spent a pair of days training in Brattleboro, Vt., before traveling to Northern Ireland for an exhibition game. There was another preseason game in the Czech Republic before they opened the regular season there by splitting two games with the Phoenix Coyotes. Then they beat the Devils on the road before arriving in Washington, where they snapped the Capitals' four-game winning streak and held Alex Ovechkin without a point for the first time in the young season.

I think the Bruins are showcasing Tim Thomas. Sitting Rask makes no sense otherwise.

They are playing the hot goalie. Rask allowed 4 goals in his first and only start. They tried out Thomas and he shut the Coyotes out. You can't sit him on a shut-out, they start him again, 1 goal allowed, start him again, just 1 more goal allowed. 0.66 GAA. How can you sit him? He's on fire.

Yeah, Rask sucked because the team sucked. 3 of those goals were on breakaways. The whole team played like crap. You shouldn't let your number 1 goalie go cold in October.

I agree the team sucked, (and only 2 of the goals were breakaways, which is still bad defense), but we have two Vezina capable goalies. They are both number one goalies. Rask has a brighter future and room for development so it would be ideal to let him play more. But if Thomas is on fire, let him play.

Thomas is not a number one goalie. Don't get fooled by 3 games.

Are you fucking serious? Rask has only played in one game.

They tried to trade Thomas all offseason, now you guys think the Bruins feel he's the better goalie. great analysis!

I never said hes the better goalie, I said hes doing good! Thomas is the hot hand, its stupid to not play someone whos doing good.. There might be something else going on with Rask...

You didn't say he;s playing well, you said better than Rask. Rask has only played in one game, and if you watched it, you would know it wasn't his fault.

Whatever, go find out why the Bruins benched Rask then.. There has to be a reason. From the game I was able to watch, Thomas played very well against the Caps.

I already said the reason. Try reading threads before you post in them.

Why would they showcase someone they tried to trade? Wouldn't that be considered stupid in your book?

How can you sit a guy after a shutout? I understand you are upset and confused that they put Thomas in after one game where Rask had bad stats (he didn't play bad, he was left hung out to dry). There's probably more going on with that situation... they are playing a Regular Season game in Europe, maybe they wanted to give Thomas the honor of playing in one, and it made sense since Rask came off a bad Bruins game. They change it up, Thomas gets a shutout. If you sit a goalie after a shut out, you should be fired... Thomas allows 1 goal the next game, and then 1 on Tuesday's game. Now they play Rask and give him his shot to get the workload again. That's how a 1A, 1B goalie system works. We don't have a starter and a backup... we have a 1A and 1B. Both goalies are capable of being starters, and both will compete for the most playing time. You don't think Thomas is capable of being a starter? Check out his stats for the last 4 years...

I honestly don't think that was the main reason why they were doing it, because what if Thomas sucked... then you lose a game and his value drops. But since he did good, his value went up.

do you know what showcasing means? Apparently not.

They want other teams to see that he's healthy and worth trading for, thus "showcasing" him for them.

Thomas is not a 1B, Rask won the job last year. How many playoff games did Thomas start last season? That says it all.
