Adande just tweeted it's a 2011 first rounder not protected. So if the hornets do suck and trade Paul we could get a pretty nice player out of it. Just to be clear I'm more concerned about our backup pg and if Roy should go down jbay was serviceable at least. That's why im nervous
not even top 3 protected? well that eases the sting a bit. kind of a bad trade in either case. Its not like the Hornets have a terrible roster..CP3, Okafor, West.
I'm not happy with this trade at all. I would like to have included Bayless in a trade for an upgraded player somewhere not just a pick that is going to be sitting on our bench.
Ok, I get that people don't mind because they think this opens up playing time for Armon, Rudy, etc, but I'm pissed because I think we should have been able to get more for Bayless, OR we could have used him as sweetener with an expiring.
I like the move. I've never really been big on Bayless. Trading him for a first rounder in the New Orleans range seems about fair value for him. This creates opportunities for Rudy, who being a whiny bitch, or not, is a proven shooting commodity. Now, unprotected pick from New Orleans could be similar to the New York unprotected pick that Utah had last year. Could be great thing to keep in that back pocket.
I can see your point of view, but really, how many teams would want Bayless? He has limited appeal. Even crappy teams like Philly have players like Lou Williams who is VERY similar. I say take the money and run! I honestly think that, in terms of trade chips, the NO pick is a lot more valuable than Bayless.
