But he wasnt there when his team needed him most to win the series was he? People dont care about the buzzer beaters, if they didnt even mean a series win. Big deal. He scored 1 point in the 2nd half of a must win game. Some GOAT there..
Hmmm, Game 6 must not have been a must win game. Because He scored 50 on 58% shooting with 8 rebounds and 5 assists that night, including some of the craziest threes you'll ever see in the last minute + overtime. He scored 17 in those 6 minutes btw, all of them to keep the game in reach just in case his teammates decided to play defense.

you can make any player look good showing all the positives, but then again he has many negatives, i'd like to see that video. After watching both then one can decide. Kobes game is repectable though.i didnt read all this stuff incase i repeat anyone... just the first 2 replies

No, but seriously, if you really think any fan of basketball doesn't know how terrible the Mavericks were during the 90s, you are a complete and utter moron. I went to a few games when Michael Finley was the only worthwhile player on the Mavs, so fscking Christ, of course I know how damn bad the Mavs were. The point that I was trying to make, even though you obviously didn't get it, is that while my Mavs are potentially going to the finals, your team is fishing. If you had thought for, y'know, a few seconds, you could have figured that out.Edit: Not to mention the fact that you purposefully left out a sentence where I mentioned that I "could be doing something more productive," not "could have been."
I am not a Kobe fan because:He is incredibly selfish, and don't say it's justified, because his team played better the one time he passed the ball on a consistent basis. Don't theorize, because the bottom line is, the one time Kobe passed the ball for a consistent basis, his team competed against a solid team, much better than them

NBA coaches have to have effective gameplanning skills to win seven game series. The Suns start two guys at forward and center who are far from good post defenders. Phil and Kobe can both recognize that, and went to Lamar and Kwame in the post a lot more than they could against any other team. Lamar Odom isn't going to dominate Tim Duncan. Lamar Odom isn't going to dominate Elton Brand. But put Shawn Marion or Tim Thomas in the post...Those are the only guys he passed to that did anything. Smush was terrible for half the series, and Luke Walton was his normal sometimes amazing/sometimes excruciating self.

However, Lamar Odom is good enough that he could get 15 Points on Duncan with good percentages if he got the ball. I saw 25 - 35 Laker games this year, and Kobe simply did not pass the ball. You can say: "The gameplan was effective because it was the Suns" But then again, how do we know it wouldn't be effective against anyone else? One game Kobe decides to pass the ball, then he goes selfish for 5 more games. The Suns are unselfish, the Spurs are unselfish, the Heat and Mavs try to be unselfish, and they are solid teams. Unselfishness wins, at all levels of basketballI can't say: Passing would work for the Lakers, because Kobe never really passed the ball during the regular seasonHowever, you can't say: The Lakers passing game could only be successful against the Suns, because Kobe never tried to pass on a consistent basis throughout the season. In conclusion, the one time Kobe decided to pass, his team had decent success. Throughout the season, where Kobe decided to be unselfish one game, and selfish the next 4 games, the Lakers were mediocre. When Kobe Bryant has shown willingness to pass, he has proven himself to be a top 5 passer in the NBA. Why doesn't he try to do it more? Why doesn't he take 4 or 5 less shots per game and give it to his open teammates once in awhile? We all saw him pass up a wide open Lamar Odom against New Jersey so he could take a three from the corner earlier this season. We all saw him lose total confidence in Odom and then question why he wasn't playing well.Kobe is a prick, Kobe is selfish, and that's why I don't like him. I don't hate him anymore, but I certainly don't hold him in high regard.

In response to KMart's post:I see your point, but I don't feel it's very fair. Your sample size for Kobe passing is four games against the Suns, and you're comparing it to an 82 game season facing 31 other teams. Kobe does have his stretches of selfishness, I know that. But I feel that more often than not it was/is justified, at least until the Lakers groom a decent third option. Or Lamar gets a little bit more of a shooter's mentality. Lakers coaches have been quoted about telling Lamar to shoot more often on several occaisons. Now towards the end of the season, at least the last month or so, things change. Kwame started giving flashes of the player people thought he could be. Lamar became the triple double threat nightly that people have been expecting out of him since God knows when.I personally feel that most of those improvements had more to do with understanding the triangle more and more. The players off of last years team (I think there were ten new players on the 04-05 squad) were really only exposed to a little bit of the triangle, and that was under the tutelage of Frank Hamblen. Then, you had even more new players this year...If Kobe averages 4.5 assists next year, I'll be pissed because I don't think he'll have to be as selfish to win games. All that said, I don't see how anyone can look at the Lakers season this year as anything but positive. They totally overachieved over the course of the season. They took a Western Conference Finalist to seven games (even though yes, the Lakers blew it). All the young guys on the Lake Show's roster got invaluable experience to apply towards next year, the year after, and so on.
