In case anyone was on the fence about the game, I'd definitely recommend it. I'm about 8 hours in and loving it so far. If you liked Fallout 3, you'll for sure like this game, largely because it feels more like a 100+ hour expansion than a true sequel (which is fine by me). Anyone else have it?
I enjoyed F3--didn't play the expansions, though. Kind of reluctant to buy a full-price game that looks to be a minimal change from the original.
Fallout: New Vegas is probably the biggest game released this year. I've heard the main quest alone is supposed to take close to 50+ hours, and if you do all the sidequests and explore the entire world, you're looking at 100+ hours of gameplay. To me, even though it's more of a Fallout 3.5 than a true sequel to Fallout 3, the fact that you get so much to do and a giant new virtual playground to do it in, it's more than worth the price of admission.
This game looks really good. I don't care if it's similar to FO3. I have put at least 50+ hours on it and that's a lot for me considering I get bored of games really quickly. Like they say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Most sequels nowadays don't change their style of gameplay anyways, so I don't really understand why so many people are complaining. Although I did hear the story isn't as compelling as FO3.
Have fun waiting a good 6 months, unless they drop it for holidays or Black Friday. I'd love to wait for games to go down in price, but I'm just not patient enough to. When a game comes out and I want to play it, I'm going to buy it, lol.
Laaammmeeee. I refuse to play that pile of crap. Halo, for me, hasn't been worth a damn since Halo: Combat Evolved what, 9 years ago?
Reach is closest to Combat Evolved. Halo 2 and Halo 3 were shit compared to CE... If I have to rank it Reach is 2nd best. The cool thing Reach touches on is the good from all the other games, but some of the bad. And its 10 years I think.
I can appreciate this argument. I will probably get this game eventually. However as I expected Obsidian has released a semi-finished game that has a lot of technical problems that may or may not be resolved with future patches. Crashing, buggy quests, etc. are the norm for Obsidian who have released NWN 2 and KOTOR 2 in the past, both of those games being plagued with similar issues.
I haven't been following up, but Bethesda didn't develop the game? I guess it doesn't make a difference. That being said, I'll wait and pick it up later. There's other games that I want to play first.
To Obsidian's defense, Fallout 3 was buggy as hell too, as was Elder Scrolls IV. The fact is, when you make a game of this size and scope, it's going to be buggy. You can never expect to make a perfect game when the world is that size. I'm sure Bethesda and Obsidian will work on patches (they already released one yesterday) to get the necessary kinks worked out anyways.
Bethesda watched over the game but it was largely done by Obsidian. However, Obsidian did use Bethesda's game engine and what not, so at least you know the game isn't a complete massacre (I'm looking at you, Alpha Protocol).
Bethesda Studios are quickly becoming one of my favorite video game developers. Some of the games they release are fantastic and they always put out with their expansions. Shivering Isles, Oblivion's expansion, was one of the best expansions I've ever played. I might have to check this one out too.
I just read that Bethesda didn't develop the game, so scratch whatever I said. Still a good dev. team though.
