The Hawks and Al Horford have been discussing a contract extension for several weeks. According to NBA.com's David Aldridge, the odds of an agreement being reached are at "about 50-50." Jamal Crawford is also seeking a contract extension from Atlanta. If Horford is unable to reach a deal on an extension, he will become a restricted free agent in July of 2011. http://www.nba.com/2010/news/features/david_aldridge/10/17/morning-tip/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt1
The Hawks cannot afford to lose Horford. He is as valuable to Atlanta as Joakim Noah is to Chicago. Its hard to find young talent that is mobile and works hard. Offering Joe the $123 mil is really putting a dampering on the future. As much as I like Jamal Crawford its clear that the Hawks decided to save money by drafting the emerging guard Jordan Crawford.
Speaking of Jordan Crawford, that dude can flat out ball. I could argue he's already better than Jamal. Peace Jamal
