Opening Night Rituals

Do you have any opening night rituals?

Me? Not so much.

Plan on stopping by a local (Pizano's) pizza joint, enjoying a cold micro while my pizza is being baked, then take it home and watch the Blazers win on my big screen,

Fun, huh?

Nachos, beer, dress my girls up in jerseys or cheerleading outfits. I get to wear Batum, they get Aldridge and Rudy (glad I kept my jersey).

Oh yeah, and I cover the room in aluminum foil to keep the Mixum bad vibes out.

 

Eat at Russel Street Barbecue.

 

Every year I wear the same thing on opening day, or the day before if opening day is on a weekend. Black slacks, White dress shirt, Blazer red tie.


Then a tradition I recently started. Getting my Nate McMillan voodoo doll, folding it's arms, and sticking pins in it.

We always hit up Red Robin on the way to the game.

 

No, guess since I'm not local I don't have one. I have a baseball ritual: Listen to Hear Comes the Sun on LP. Not CD, not iPod. Perfect!

I love Abbey Road. Side B is where that album really takes off, starting with Here Comes the Sun and launching into the greatest medley of songs that was ever arranged.

I started my first day of work today. It was a decent start.
