He averages 13 ppg off the bench. He shoots a high FG% for a guard. He is one of the fastest players in the League. What do you guys think his potential is? Keep in mind he is only 23 years old.
He's has the potential to be the best 6th man in the league. I don't see him as a starter ever and he might even be included in a trade to free up some cap space.
He is a great player off the bench. I would not be surprised if he wins the 6th man award in the next couple of years.
co-sign with the people above me potential to be the best sixth man but idk bout a starter especially in Pheonix btw the real sixth man of the year should have been my man Ben Gordon not Mike Miller <---whom i dislike
He could be a good scorer off the bench in the future, and could possibly win 6th Man of the Year scoring 15 ppg off the bench. His potential is not very high because he is a pg that cannot run an offense. He is great at attacking the rim, using his quickness, shooting. He is a good offensive player.

Which i thank him for. Kobe deserved it.

Mike Miller got 41 points of the bench.
He reminds of Gilbert Arenas, in his years with GS, wasnt a great playmaker, was/is a 2 guard in a 1 guard's body, and was great at attacking the rim and shooting the ball. However, he needs a playmaker like Nash if he left Phoenix. Or else he'd be like QRich and put up mediocre numbers. I dont think he can create points by himself.

I never saw Nash setting any picks for him I think he'll do fine anywhere else if there is a decent point guard there to give him a couple 3's. He just loses his confidence so easily and he needs to work on his defense. He's also pretty short for a shooting guard, but can come off the bench and do some damage. That's why I think he'll only be a 6th man.

He gets alot of points by cutting in for a lay up. Those are without Nash's points. I would agree that his shooting numbers would definately go down without Nash and the Suns offense, because he wouldnt be as efficient when all the looks he got were not wide open.
I see him playing a Bobby Jackson type of role in the future (B-Jax on the Kings). A guy that can come in, provide a great deal of energy, use his quickness, and lead the bench with his scoring. The thing is, I don't think he will ever be a starter, because he is not a PG. He is a SG trapped in a PG's body. He is a scorer, extremely quick, but too small to be a SG and not much of a playmaker. He fits in great with Phoenix' run n' gun style of play though, I will add. And I think he will turn out to be a very solid contributor in this league.
^ That's exactly who the Suns fans are comparing him too and I agree. I think if we have to free some cap room though he's the guy that's going. We can get some nice talent for him and losing him won't be a big loss if we get a good back-up point guard to give Nash some rest.

Sure he may not be a true PG to come in and run the team, but as long as Steve Nash is there, there is no room for another PG that deserves big minutes. Barbosa fits with that team perfectly. A team like that needs his quickness, foot speed, durability, and scoring ability off the bench. He could develope into more of a PG, I mean hell, Steve Nash is there. No doubt Nash has given him pointers. Barbosa is an overlooked young guard and he will have a very successful career. Phoenix is a good fit.
I know you didn't suggest that he needs to go. That's what I am suggesting... The Suns DESPERATLY need a back-up point guard. With Nash's back problems he can't play for 36+ minutes anymore. He was terrible as the playoffs went on because with House playing bad he got very little rest. I say the Suns try to trade Barbosa for something for cap room and then sign Speedy Claxton to back-up Nash. He could give us a solid 16 minutes, maybe more and keep Nash well rested. I'm getting off-topic though. After this year though I can see that Leandro won't be a point guard and that's really what we need.
No. Barbosa can play as an off-guard and have a new PG bring the ball up. Barbosa is most effective without the ball because of his quickness and foot speed as well as cutting skills. Barbosa can play on the wing, especially in the Suns' style. If Phoenix is thinking about getting another PG to relieve some pressure off of Nash (which I do agree with your point, Nash's back can't hold up as long as it used to) that still doesn't mean Barbosa is the one to go. I believe he is far from "the one to go." Eddie House had his moments, but he is the same thing as Barbosa, only without ability to create a shot and half the quickness. They are both undersized SG's. So if someone is to go, it's House not Barbosa.
He will be gone too, but the difference is House get very little money and we wouldn't get anything from him in a trade. I'm not sure Sarver would like to pay the luxury tax so Barbosa would be the guy to go. I'd rather keep the whole team though so lets see how the contracts work out. If we keep him though Barbosa really needs some more confidence. His confidence wavers too much and he's so inconsistent. I'll keep the Suns off-season talk to the team forum though, sorry I brought it up. I'll make a offseason thread a month from now.
He needs to develop some consistency. We've all seen him score 25+, but we've also seen him miss open jumpshots. If he could develop consistency, we could be seeing a 20 point scorer
you can't tell with guys like barbosa when they play with nash. i completely agree with zards on the q-rich analogy. steve nash makes guards seem better then they really are. im sure spreewell would be a star with phoenix. imagine if redick was on the suns. nash gets ppl open. barbosa will be a great bench player as long as he has a guy who moves the ball around right on the floor with him
