If the refs are going to start calling techs for any kind of complaining, maybe they should start doing a better job of calling fouls....

The tech thing is so inconsistent too. At times they won't call the T if its a tight game based on the game situation, but they would if its earlier in the game just to "set a tone". really ridiculous.

The techs on Miller and Johnson were bullshit. They weren't trying to show up the ref.

The refs missed one or two technical fouls, but I think they did a pretty good job of consistently applying the new rule.

I agree that it'd be great if the refs would get better at other calls if they just tried harder, but there are ALWAYS going to be missed calls. At least we don't need to see players bitching about them now.

    Or, rather, FOR now.

based on their standards, Griffin should have gotten a tech in the 4th while the blazers were starting the run. If the refs called it honestly like they had been, would have caused a HUGE chorous of boos.

After playing the game the same way for so long its like a natural reaction for most of them to argue. I think in a couple weeks players will start adapting though.

roy got away with doing the exact same motion as miller got T'd up for tonight, it was weird to see. also, hubbie brown mentioned that the armon T wasn't called when one of the laker players did the same thing yesterday, didn't see the laker game, but it was good to hear that the commentators were at least seeing the inconsistency.

They're only going to call it on non-stars. Just watch.

If a PM from a mode threatening me to be banned from this joint = a tech, I have 5 or 6.

My biggest issue with the new tech rule is that it is inconsistent. Roy did the same thing that non stars did and the refs looked the other way. Lebron raised his arms after a no call, and the refs looked the other way. Kobe raised his arms on opening night and the refs looked the other way. Call it on everyone, or call it on no one. It's $2,000 for one of those tech's, so it means a bit more.

I have yet to see them call the new rule. Admittedly I missed the Clips game last night, but I was looking for it in the Phoenix game and they missed it 3-4 times. I saw Turk go right towards an official after he was called for the foul and didn't get the whistle. Roy also had one where he was complaining and didn't get called for it. So I just assumed they were laying off now in real games and not calling them.

I think the new rule on complaints sucks, and was put into place to protect the refs from being exposed when they (frequently) make bad calls.

I wonder how many games Rasheed would be tossed from this year, if he were still playing?

Can you imagine the frustration that will occur in those games (For every team) when your team is just getting screwed? It happens to every team. How do you vent your frustration? You will get T'd up to compound the bad job by the refs.

On the flip side, Portland should benefit the most. yes we have some players who complain. But not in comparison to other good teams. And Nate barely says a word (One of my few complaints about Nate over the years) So this should help. The Euro's will have a tough time especially. How about Jerry Sloan? Doc Rivers? Van Gundy? The Stoops Brothers. (oops wrong sport)

Yes its a horrible system. Your giving 110% diving for a ball, and a loose ball foul is called, who's the foul on? Oh its on you, surprise! Oh but don't be surprised, you'll get a T!

I understand importance of not talking to the ref's, but this is outta hand. There should be 10 sec grace period after a call or something... I'm pretty sure the ref's can handle it

There is absolutely no way this rule will be enforced consistently across the league. It wasn't even consistent in the same game for the same team last night. Roy did exactly what Miller did. Miller got a T, Roy didn't.

I like the idea of trying to reduce the bitching and moaning, but this rule is going to be very frustrating to watch as a fan.

I don't think ANYONE has threatened to ban you. We might have mentioned that if you continued to make personal attacks you'd be suspended. We hope it'd never come to that, of course, but a suspension is temporary while bans tend to be associated with forever.

Just to clarify for the record. :)
