Status for Sat is unavailable. Kelley does not share info regarding injury. But, good news for a serious head injury.

Can't wait to see Barner returning kicks and backing up James again!

I bet he plays. I would really be surprised if he doesn't. The Ducks lied about their injuries for the UCLA game too. This game is too big. I think Barner plays.

Yeah he's been practicing in pads all week. Both Helfrich and Kelly said there's absolutely no way he plays on Saturday. There is a good chance the Ducks see him next week however.

Absolutely no way that it's even possible that he might even consider thinking about the possibility of deciding to change his mind about the chances of him suiting up on Saturday...... :devilwink:

Not even close. Barner lost consciousness for a minute and I can't remember what the term is called, but when that happens the nerves go through something called "shearing". It takes a while to recover from that. Barner had a similar injury to Jahvid Best last year, but not as severe.

And Brett Favre might play on a fractured ankle. Football players do crazy things. I really wouldn't be surprised to see Barner out there this weekend.

Alright, believe what you want to believe, but there's 100% chance that Barner will not be out there.

And the injury Barner sustained is called a diffuse Axonal injury. Basically the microscopic nerve fibers undergo "shearing" and some are disrupted. They can heal - with a long rest period. Nerve fiber regrowth/healing is extremely slow.

Both Max Williams and Justin Thompson, over on Duckterritory, are saying that the medical staff said that Barner might be a game time decision for the Washington game but that's it.

Hehe... The truth is no one knows for sure either way because the decision has not been made public.

Head injuries stand alone for level of seriousness and it doesn't matter if we need him or not - if there is any question whatsoever, he'll be suited on the sidelines and not play.

Practicing in pads is different than taking hits & playing football. I'd bet that Barner was off-limits during practice & was not tackled. He's not gonna play this week.

Yeah, he wore a red "no contact" jersey during every practice.
