True, he was limited, but not that limited. He was much more mobile than Greg was on offense, he had a running hook shot and every once in a blue moon - a good drop-step. You have started to see these things with Greg at the start of last year - but he still has a bit of a way to go.

I want to see Greg healthy for a year doing what he did last year and improving on it before he goes to work on some of the stuff Hakeem can teach him.

Please. We have already seen Greg's offensive game taking a big step up by working with Bayno - all he needed was some more time to refine that and he would be ready for big improvements, but until this happens - this is really just a silly thing to send him to Hakeem.

We don't really know the extent of Hakeem's teaching abilities. He might be more than qualified to teach the basics, as well as the advanced post moves to Greg. I just think it couldn't hurt, and I would love to see Hakeem on our coaching staff working with Aldridge and Oden.

Hakeem does not seem like he wants to be a coach full time, I would love to see him as well - but it seems that if he was available - Houston (where he still lives, to the best of my knowledge, and where he still is an icon) would have used him in this capacity.

Maybe he'll start running a big man camp.

Weren't Kobe and Hakeem both soccer players in their youth? Could that have to be why they are nimble on their feet to pull off the dream shake?

He should, it would be great to see some more big guys with skills in this league.

I can tell you that a big man would take more away from Hakeem than Bayno. I can teach someone to drive a car, but even Danica Patrick could teach you how to drive a race car better than I can. It is just a different level altogether.

I think there's been a void since Pete Newell died.

If you haven't seen the video, it'll make you want to go practice. Not much fancy, but attention to detail on lots of stuff.

That's the kind of teaching anyone could use.

Hello darkness, my old friend
I remember seeing videos of Olajuwon working with Yao years ago. I'd be really, really happy if Portland could get him to work with Oden, once Oden is finished with his rehab. Oden doesn't need to be an advanced post player to get a lot of value...Olajuwon seems to teach fluidity and smooth post moves, which is definitely something Oden could use. Oden has the natural athleticism to be graceful, but he doesn't have the skill and comfort yet. He's trying to do things too quickly in the post and it ends up being awkward. If Olajuwon could help him get a rhythm for playing with the ball in the hands, so he moves confidently and fluidly...that would be huge.

F that, I just want Oden to do the Dream Shake or whatever they called his turnaround jumper move.

Kidding, I saw those videos too but couldn't find them on youtube.
