    Hawkey Month in Review, October

    Top Three Players
    1. Patrick Sharp
    2. Duncan Keith
    3. Marty Turco

    Injuries Damper the Hawks roster.
After thirteen games of hockey, the Blackhawks still have more to prove. With some injury and defensive issues, the Blackhawks finished the month lower than I had hoped. I saw a few games where they could have won, but the game slipped away. The last game of the month against the Wild on Halloween was a good win with solid play by the Blackhawks. A few key injuries and a suspension damperd the Blackhawks. Brian Campbell was lost in preseason and ever since the defense has been changing left and right. Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook stayed solid on the first line, while the second and third lines saw different players. Most notably the veteran Nick Boynton. He played a lot more than he used to, and played great. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the second line when Campbell returns. Also a year out of high school, Nick Leddy played in his first NHL game, he by passed the AHL and ECHL. He played decently, very young, and a great prospect. He received his first goal of his NHL career vs Buffalo. Also during that game game, Hammer got suspended for a few games, dampening the Hawks D more. Marian Hossa suffered an upper body injury behind the play and has been out since, same with Davey Bolland. Two key players suffered injuries late in the month. Ben Smith, and Ryan Potulny stepped in.

    New Netminder, Mr. Marty Turco.
Marty Turco brings something new to Chicago. Since Niemi asked for way to much money and signed with the Sharks, the Hawks needed a new goalie. Back in the season I read an article about Marty Turco wanting to play in Chicago, looks like he got his wish. The biggest thing that seperates Niemi and Turco is the style of play. Niemi can't play out of his net like Marty Turco can. Turco is 6-2-1 so far. He has 311 saves and let in 25 goals with a 2.63 GAA. Turco has a .920 save percentage. He has been on the ice for 571:18. He had some great games, and some bad games. But I hope once Campbell gets back, the defense will play consistently and Turco will be more comfortable and take less shots.

    Hot Players
Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, Jonathon Toews, Jack Skille, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, and Nick Boynton just to name a few hot players on the ice. Each player is doing their job, and doing it perfectly. Hossa and Sharp are going nuts on the goals, Toews is playing pretty damn good at center, and Keith, Seabs and Boynton are playing some great D. Even though each player has made bad mistakes, they also made some great plays to give the Hawks an extra boost. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes in the next month. It's going to be a good one. To bad Hoss is out for two weeks.
