I used to read The Walking Dead years ago when I was deep into zombie stuff. After the first few dozen issues I think the writers started to get tangled up and I kind of lost interest. However when I heard AMC was adapting the comic for television my interest was renewed. Not in the dead tree version but in watching the show. The comic deals with a group of survivors of a zombie Armageddon in the American Southeast. They are essentially gypsies moving from one place to the next trying to find safety, lost family members, and supplies to keep them going. Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) is directing/producing so I'm optimistic that the series will be well done. The cast for the show will be ever-expanding and contracting, something like The Wire, so I'm not overly concerned with the actors involved. The first (pilot) episode airs tonight on AMC. There are six one-hour episodes for the first season and the second season has already been optioned. I had the opportunity to see a pre-aired copy today and I was very impressed. It is faithful to the source material and well-paced. For sure a good way to spend Halloween if you aren't getting tanked or handing out candy.
Yeah there are copies (torrents) floating around. Dunno if it is on mega or rapid or one of those. For sure you can find it on isoHunt.
I am a really big fan of the comics so I've been looking forward to this show for a while, I hope it lives up to my expectations.
Well, I just got home 20 minutes ago and found a site with episode 1 and so far, wow. Its really well put together. The dialogue is spot on, and the main character is likeable. My only complaint is that the zombies should run faster. Note: AMC has been far, far better than HBO, showtime, and cinemax and it hasn't been close, especially in the past 5 years.
I didn't get to watch it last night, had some partying to do. I've recorded it and will give it a watch tonight.
That shit irked me. I got home at around 1AM piss drunk hoping to see zombies running! Good part is that the zombies are smarter than the past film's zombies. This is going to be a great series.
When you see the rest of the story you'll understand why the slow moving zombies are more suited to TWD than they were for say the Dawn remake in 2004 (28 Days/Weeks later don't count because those were people with a virus), literally and metaphorically.
Probably not until it airs, if you mean are there copies floating around yet. But if you want to know what happens you can get the comic. So far they are sticking to it.
Just a reminder to catch the second episode of this promising series tonight on AMC. Also, before any of you ask, no, it is not available online yet, probably not until at least midnight or early tomorrow morning.
