Bulls win 110-98 Shot 60% 39% in 3's Out rebounded portland by 1 Deng 40, Rose 16, Korver 11, Noah 10 Rose 13 assists
I don't think he's batting right handed. (Honestly, no jk) Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Sam's write-up was great, as usual: Omer continues to impress. Love the line about Thibo's high expectations
I thought the team looked very promising last night. I just saw the 2nd half but Rose has hit another level. His ability to penetrate and make the right decisions was just fantastic. Deng's quote about Rose's hard passes when double team was right on the money. The D has no chance to adjust leading to very, very wide open shots. This team has a LOT of potential. The pieces really seem to fit well.
You could say that a lot last night! Deng was obviously on fire last night, but one thing I really loved was the fact that the younger guys (JJ and Asik especially) came in and maintained the lead the starters had built. That was a pretty big deal IMO
JJ is going to ok imo, but it will take a while. Asik has really impressed me. He isn't a star, but a very solid front court back up! He is not a tarloc or a bargaric!
Does anybody else get the sense that JJ is being showcased? Brewer played 6 minutes last night, but played well.
No. I get the sense that JJ is playing because up until yesterday Brewer has not looked like an NBA starting guard. Gotta play somebody.
Who said Asik was going to be much better than Taj? While I certainly don't agree right now, I see so much potential with the guy. He moves his feet well, he's a willing (not very good yet) rebounder, and provides size and length for us in a needed position. I <3 him.
Yeah, the fact that he's producing anything right now, anything, is somewhat shocking. My take going into the first preseason game was that Asik should start because he has to be at the point where he's shown he deserves minutes by the time Boozer gets back. That's proven premature, because Asik has shown he demands minutes coming off the bench (though Taj has certainly helped the process with his early foul trouble.) I love the Asik-Noah combo. I like your phrase "willing rebounder." That's perfect. The games moving way too fast for him right now to be a good rebounder. But Asik puts himself in the right spots and fights for boards. He's going to be a good rebounder in the not too distant future, once he gets acclimated.
