I'd like to see where Lebron ranks on that chart

And just to add, i'm having a hard time believing that Jordan's 10th best season is just about as good as everyone's 1st best. Jordan was amazing, but he wan't thaaaaaat great.

I would point to the last game as to why Melo may well be the answer.

Melo is the kind of guy who can average 30 points a game over a whole season. That would be a 40 point game for every 20 point game he has...

Deng got 40 and look how easy it was for Rose and the whole team in general. We built up a big lead against a strong 50+ win team from the west and never looked back.

Deng is the answer if he plays like he did the other night. Likely? Not impossible, but Melo is a far better bet at this point.

With a good coach and a better, more balanced roster, Deng could easily average 23-25. We're three games in. Hard to know anything at this point. I think Noah is pretty clearly out of the equation for landing Melo at this point.

The other thing is, who did the bulls put on Roy, Durant, and even Gordon when they needed to increase the defensive pressure? Deng made Durant work hard for his points and all three had low efficiency nights. Does anybody think Melo adds that dimension?

Sorry, they're from the APBR board

Reading the comments, apparently Lebron and some of the other current players seem to come close to MJ, but there's some talk, which I'd agree with, that it's a result of the particular stat they were using, and the dataset they generate it from. Short version: They're using stats generating from data that didn't exist when these guys were actually playing, but does exist when, say, Lebron is playing. Thus, you're going to have some heavy biases built in. As a snapshot though, it's darn interesting.
