My biggest beef is never seeing JB next to Roy for extended periods of time. When we have seen JB excelling in Portland - it was usually when he was playing the scoring machine role. I now fault Turkgaloooooo's wife for that oversight. If that lady could handle a little less Rahat Lokum - We would not have Miller on the roster and there would be more chance of seeing Roy/JB together.

    Oh well...

The reaswon Bayless will "do that" in NO is because he is competing against Willie Green (I believe) for the SG spot.

Monty will use Bayless correctly becuase he won't use Bayless as a PG, he will use Bayless as a SG . . . something Nate really doesn't have the luxury doing since the Blazer's best player plays that position.

Bayless will finally have the opportunity to play his natural position with one of the best point guards in the league.

The question should be that if Bayless doesn't blow up this year, will some admit that Nate didn't ruin Bayless (the popular theory among Nate haters).

I voted on a poll that i was for the trade. I also was for the trade that lost us Jermaine (since he didn't play much in games and the coaches and GM saw him in practice every day, I thought they knew what they were doing). I guess I'm basing my vote on this trade also on the fact the coaches and GM have seen Armon Johnson more than me and aren't afraid to throw him out there.

I will NEVER reveal my feelings about any trade of Bayless.

Or did Nate ruin him enough that he won't blow up? Did he lose all of his confidence? LOL I certainly can't see any way to ever say that about Bayless, but I suppose it's possible. I think it can happen where a very talented guy ends up in the worst possible scenerio for him and never bounces back. Joey Harrington is a player that comes to mind right away. Pitchers that end up on the Yankees sometimes lose their confidence as well.

Don't back off now MM. You have basically said Bayless is a stud who is not doing what he can because of Nate. So now Bayless gets to go to a team and start at his natural position . . . time for him to shine right?

None of this if Bayless doesn't shine in NO it still Nate's fault . . . do you realize how much more that makes you sound obsessive about Nate.

I was being a little tongue in cheekish. Assuming Bayless plays a natural type game for him, and he still fails then it's all on him.

I'm for the trade. Being able to trade the 9th-man on your bench for a potential lotto pick speaks to our depth. Now, we haven't gotten to see Johnson play, but it seems as if Rich and Nate think that there isn't much of a drop-off from 9 to 11th or 12th or so.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Bayless blows up while starting and playing next to CP3. It doesn't matter to me, though, because he wouldn't be getting 35 minutes and almost-unlimited touches if he was here. So even if he produces like Joe Johnson this year, you won't find me in the "we shoulda kept him!" camp b/c he was going to sit on the bench and maybe get 15mpg as the backup PG, and be playing limited minutes in an unnatural role for him if he stayed with us.

Good luck to him. Go Blazers.

If Bayless blows up in NO, then I am against the trade.

If he struggles in NO, then I am for the trade.

If he is an average player in NO, with great games one night followed by poor games the next, then I am ambivalent toward the trade.

Will his team sniff the playoffs though? I can see him averaging about 2ppg more than he did in Portland.

    That's true.

The contributions of Portland's future draft pick cannot be overstated.

Great question. I think NO will sniff the playoffs. 8th seed isn't out of the question. I think Bayless will average more than you do though.

Bayless in first three games: 3.0 ppg, 1.7 apg, 2.3 tpg (yikes!), 33% FG shooting in 11 mpg

Why didn't he do that here, lol?

Meanwhile, Armon Johnson in 5 games: 5.2 ppg, 2.2 apg, 1.0 tpg, 65% shooting in 10 mpg

For the TRADE. Regardless of how Bayless plays in NO his playing time was going to be drastically cut with Rudy, Mathews, Miller, and Roy getting the bulk of the minutes Bayless would have been left with maybe 10 minutes a game. On top of that Nate had already declared Armon the back up PG ahead of Bayless. His value would have drastically dropped and we were extremely fortunate to get a 1st round pick. He has great work ethic but no matter how hard he tried he wasn't going to grow into a legit SG and he's simply not a PG. Sorry I wish him well but we finally made a trade where someones value hadn't plummetted to give away value.
