Agreed. Roy barely even tries to keep his man in front of him and it's sad. You can't just allow dribble penetration that easily or it breaks down the whole defense.

If Roy's looking to be a leader he's definitely not taking the lead by example approach. The amount of walking he did last night still baffles me.

Yes, it is worse. If our defensive rating has improved, a lot of that is because we are using Marcus Camby instead of Juwan Howard at center, and a healthy Batum and Matthews and Armon Johnson has replaced much of the time used by Outlaw, Bayless and Webster.

No.. we are not trading Brandon freakin' Roy when he's still putting up numbers around his career averages and we're 4-2. Ugh...

It's not time to get rid of Roy. If he's putting up 20/5/5 during a slump, he's still a damn good player. When those shots start falling like usual, he'll be at least his old self if not even better.

I'm not interested in statistics. I'm interested in reality. I've watched every game and I understand the game. Roy's game does not fit the team. His defense is pedestrian. Those are the facts- IMHO.

Even if he isn't playing defense?

Even if he now hurts the team in critical situations?

Even if he makes those around him lesser players?

Statistics for the sake of statistics, to me, is not the end all debating point. If that were the case, we should have never unloaded Rasheed, Bonzi or Zach. I mean, they had great stats, therefore they must be great players.

That's unintentionally brilliant. "Those are the facts...in my opinion." Factual opinion. Opinion facts.

Whether he "fits with the team" or the quality of his defense are not facts. They are opinions. It is a fact that those are your opinions. :)

Roy has had a few bad games. He fit with the team fine in every previous season and now he's adjusting his game to fit in even better. Wanting to jettison the team's best player over a bad stretch (which was a stretch 90% of players in the league would be happy to have as their level of play) is remarkably silly.

Essentially, that's a wordy way of saying "Get a grip. It's the first 6 games."

Like any other prophet, this one wanders the wastes of the internet spouting insane proclamations they are convinced are truth.

Nine headed dragons, magical bifocals and B-Roy is the real problem on the Blazers.

Roy fits this team great, he has chemistry with the starters and plays the best when the starters are in the game. What he doesn't' do at the moment is fit with the bench. The bench loves to RUN and play really physical defense, so when you take a look at Roy out their with a few bench guys it almost seems to scream the stuff he isn't' doing well to everyone. His defense isn't that great this year, it seems to be because he looks fairly slow at the moment. We'v only seen 6 games so far and Roy has looked okay in all of them not great, but its only been 6 games. I'm not even thinking of getting rid of our best/franchise player because he is having a few game slump. Is he slowed down because of his knee sugeries? Does he just not want to take hits near the basket because the refs aren't rewarding him as much anymore? Did he throw the game last night because he thought Durant gave him contact so he threw the ball up? Really who cares about this stuff at the moment, those are questions to ask midway threw the season if he continues to stay in this slump... which btw how the hell is a player who is averaging 20/5/5(on par with his career averages) in a slump offensively? Defensively yes he is in a slump, but i'll let that slide for a bit.

Good Lord. Let's have a refresher course. A "fact" is that Roy has the best Drtg of his career right now. Perhaps he is playing terrible defense, but my opinion is that the obsessive bitching about Roy and his defense is not based in fact. Plus, your first post this thread is 100% opinion, so I find it a bit surprising that you seem frustrated that not everybody agrees with it.

Well, interesting range of opinions. From the sane to the insane. From those who want to seriously discuss the issues to trolls that always seem to hover the forum.

I have no doubt we will keep Roy as long as he wants to be here. But he sure is struggling and my thought is that he may be injured. To those of you who bothered to offer opinions- both for & against, thanks. For the 4 or 5 trolls- get screwed.

Obviously it's not time for Roy to go but it's definitely time for him to step up and take control of this team. He's not really setting an example with his play(especially on defense) and he's not much of a vocal leader either. Time to step up and be a MAX contract player Brandon Roy.

And those points came at a time when the Thunder were making a run, and eventually helped them win the game. Whoopedy fucking doo indeed.
