I don't think they are so good, but I do think Blazers beat them without Roy.

But maybe have Roy sit against a dominate team on the road. Idea being lets lower those total numbers of minutes played. You are already guessing Roy doesn't play 20 games, maybe we can choose which ones.

The Pistons worry me a little bit. They aren't a good team per se, but given the Blazers lack of front-cort depth I do think they could have the edge in athleticism and length, especially if LMA or Camby gets into foul trouble. I expect the Blazers to win, but I don't think it will be a cake-walk either (and yes they will need Roy to play and play well).

    Also, consider this:

First 3 games of the season: 25pts/3.7asts/6.3reb/42% FG%

    Last 5: 17/2/2/38%

Been a bit of a brutal early schedule and Roy has played early minutes. They're on a 3 games in 5 day span again and after that the schedule looks a lot more normal with no back-to-backs almost a week off at one point. Their next b2b isn't until Dec9-10.

Lower the minutes and the schedule will take care of itself.

Look at that stretch in December though they play 7 games in 10 days with 3 b2b's in an 10 day span. That is ridiculous. The Lakers have 10 all year. The Blazers have 4 just in the month of December.

Great idea. I've been calling for this for a while now.

Even Durant thinks he's been playing too much:

It's a little concerning considering that Brandon just turned 26 not too long ago.

I can't say this surprises me. For years now Roy has needed a second player on this team to take a load off of him and that player has never showed up. A second player with significant ability can do wonders for a team. Too bad we don't have one.

What capable bigs do the Pistons have? Wallace is garbage offensively and plays limited minutes, Villanueva is a perimeter oriented big and Greg Monroe is still raw.

It's not just their bigs, they've got length at the small forward position with Daye and Prince, and between Gordon, Stuckey and Rip a pretty capable backcourt (I also think Will Bynum is a pretty underrated backup 1).

Like I said, I don't think they should win, but when we're relying on Sean Marks as our backup 4/5 ... let that sink in for a little bit.

Seems to me that Roy is saying that he needs some rest to get the knee back to normal. I'm sure the usual suspects will call him selfish for trying to play through it instead of shutting it down for a few weeks.
