hell I watched the Laker feed of the last game and their announcers seemed convinced he would be back shortly after watching him in practice earlier that day STOMP
Yeah, but that's the LA media. They aren't being paid to put a negative spin on everything related to the Blazers. That's the local media's job. BNM
Yes, I'd be surprised if a beat writer lied about Oden not being involved in 5 on 5 scrimmages. I'm not sure what reporting that information has to do with medical school, and he travels with the team, so I'm guessing he knows a shitload more than your or I do about the daily ongoings of the Blazers.
On Sunday night after the game, I texted Bayno and asked him how Greg and Joel were doing. His answer was "Getting closer...." That's from the guy who works with Oden every day.
How much 5 on 5 are the Blazers really doing right now? Tons of travel, a bunch of back to backs, and killer minutes for our main guys. I wouldn't expect much 5 on 5, but we do know that Oden has been working hard before the games so I'm not gonna get to bent outta shape until we hear something definitive from GO or management about a setback.
Technically, Oden and Przy are "getting closer" with each passing day regardless of when they come back. I'm not sure how "getting closer" really means anything. Seems like a rather vague and obvious reply.
Until there's something concrete I'm going to try to keep from freaking out, but this really concerns me. I would love for the team to give us SOMETHING on Oden. "Hey, he won't be back this year. Deal with it."
I am always amazed how the slightest thing can be taken to stratospheric heights of conjecture around here. I watched the LA broadcast of the Blazers/Lakers game (at least as much as I could stomach) and their broadcasters were commenting on how they watched Greg working out with Bayno before the game and how good he looked. They were speculating that he'd be back shortly. So he misses a 5-5 workout for unknown reasons and suddenly it's doom and gloom. Perhaps he had some swelling. Maybe the practice schedule didn't fit with him being on the court. Who knows? Until there's something definite to report, it seems like sitting back and waiting is all we can do.
But immediately after suffering the injury, they are again "getting closer" with each passing minute.
That's true, but if the reporter whacks them in the knee as he's saying that they are not getting closer, then he's speaking the truth. barfo
Looks like Oden will be examined again in LA, so there must still be problems. http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2010/11/blazers_insider_brandon_roys_k.html
